Tim DeRuyter has led Fresno State to back-to-back Mountain West championships in his two seasons as head coach of the Bulldogs
FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State announced Monday that it has reached an agreement with head football coach Tim DeRuyter with a letter of intent to extend his contract five years through the 2018 season.
Fresno State and DeRuyter were pleased to come to a preliminary, non-binding agreement regarding certain key terms. The letter serves as confirmation of the University's intent to enter into a comprehensive agreement to extend the employment agreements of Coach DeRuyter. The primary goal of this announcement is to ensure the stability for Coach DeRuyter and his staff, so that they may effectively complete the 2014 football recruiting process and beyond.
"The extraordinary success Coach DeRuyter and his staff have achieved over the past two seasons warrants these actions by the University. It is our hope that these mutual commitments foster greater stability as well as the continued progression of Fresno State Football," Director of Athletics Thomas Boeh said.
In the months ahead, the University, Athletic Corporation and Coach DeRuyter's representatives will be working toward the completion and execution of comprehensive employment agreements. No additional details will be provided until the conclusion of that process.
"It's very gratifying that Fresno State is pleased with the direction that the football program is headed and wants to show its commitment to our future," DeRuyter said. "I would like to thank our president Dr. Joseph Castro, director of athletics Thomas Boeh, the Athletic Corporation and the administration for their support as our football staff and I continue to strive for championships and make the Valley proud of its team."
President Castro said he, too, is pleased that the agreement process is moving forward. "I look forward to finalizing these agreements and more great Bulldog football," he said. "Fresno State's academic and athletic programs will rise together."
