    Smiffs Season Thread NCAAF/NFL

    It's about that time fellas. Had my most profitable year of my gambling career last year, finished up 27 units in NCAAF/NFL and then cleaned up NCAAB/NBA with a 45 unit profit. Lets keep it rollin' in 13/14!

    I've got one play locked in so far for Thursday.

    1.5 unit Fresno State -10. Not much to say about this matchup that hasn't already been touched on, but this Rutgers secondary is a mess. Ian Thomas (a WR convert) and Gareef Glashen will each be making their first career starts of their college careers at each corner position. Look for the high power Fresno St. offense led by Derek Carr to be clicking on all cylinders throughout this one. Carr has a legitimate chance of going in the first round of this years draft, and he has all of his weapons back. Combine the obvious mismatch here with Rutgers' porous offense (101st in total offense/98th scoring offense) and I think this one should be well in hand by the final whistle.

    Tough backdoor TD to bust the MSU/WMU over. Back at it tomorrow, locking in one play I love early, researching and narrowing down a few of my leans.

    Northwestern -5.5 2x

    I really am loving this spot for the Wildcats. Cal has a ton of turnover on the offensive side of the ball. New coach, new true freshman starting QB, 3 starting o-lineman graduations, top playmaking receiver Keenan Allen moving on to the NFL. Just not the type of squad you want to throw out there in the opener against a tough, disciplined Northwestern team.

    Cal's defense should be much improved this year, but that doesn't change the fact that they were the 70th ranked rush defense in the country last season. A significant blow for the Bears in this one also, is the loss of leading tackler and defensive captain Nick Forbes, who is listed as doubtful. Key defensive contributors Avery Sebastian and Brenden Scarlett also carry lingering injuries into this one. Also keep in mind that the Bears fell 31-24 and were gashed for 227 rushing yards by Nevada in the opener of 2012. Nevada runs a very similar zone read offense that Northwestern will be bringing to Berkeley tomorrow night.

    Might add another unit to this one by kickoff tomorrow.

    Kicking myself for a couple stupid panic live plays this week. Could've been damn near perfect if I had just let it all ride. Oh well, can't complain about being positive for the first 3 days.     Idaho is the worst FBS team in the country Wyoming has a high powered offense that will score at will on the Vandals. They just put up 34 on Nebraska...they could put up 80 on Idaho if they want to.

    I'm with you all the way on the Cowboys. Brett Smith is healthy this year and the JC transfers have filled in nicely. Dave Christensen can finally run his offense. Not only were they passing with good efficiency but they also stayed balanced with the spread zone read running plays. Not sure why the defensive front laid an egg to start the 2nd half giving up all those 10 yard runs, but Idaho's O-line is nowhere near the size or strength that of Nebraska's. I'm laying 2 units at -25 (5dimes).
