Is the Pac-12 Conference Really This Bad?

UCLA got smoked tonight and didn't seem like a very disciplined team. Let's hope Oregon has a better showing.

How is losing to a team 35-17 in a game that wasn't even as close as the score almost beating them

Oregon deserves to be in the Championship game, and Stanford knocked off two #2 teams and were robbed of their win over Notre Dame.

Oregon in title game. That gimmick offense gets exposed each year they play a good defense

Won't be surprised if Rutgers, usc and Kent state come out flat. Even Oklahoma

Biggest joke of a supposed legit conference is the Big 10.................which is a flat out joke.

Ask West Virginia if the Big 12 plays defense. The SEC has little to no offense. The Pac has little to no defense. The Big 12 plays the most balanced off/def of all conferences. Imagine if the Big 12 still had Texas A&M and Nebraska this year.

Are you saying you think ND is better than Oregon? I guarantee Bama wouldn't be double-digit favorites against the Ducks.

Yes nd would beat them. Oregon played against one good defense this year and lost

Will never know Oregon lost to Stanford at home.. nd beat Stanford at home..

Being a double digit underdog vs being a 7 point underdog is not really a valid argument.

    Example above
Oregon was a 20 favorite against stanford and lost
Nd was a 7 pts favorite but won..

    Title game
For argument sake say Oregon was plus 3 vs bama. And lost by 17.

Nd 10 point dog to bama but loses by 3

Does that mean Oregon is still better?
Based on a pregame perception of the teams?

Game is played on the field. Oregon had their chance. Thus not deserving to be in the title game over bama or nd. Especially since they lost at home to a team nd beat as well

Most people who watched that ND/Stanford game agree that it was decided on a mistaken call that should have given Stanford the win in OT. Realistically, they both should have had a loss against Stanford. Either way, the two teams have played essentially identical schedule strengths but Oregon put up a +29 average point differential to Notre Dame's +16.5.

I'm not saying that the reason why Oregon is a better team is because they wouldn't be as heavy underdogs as ND. I'm saying the reason why they wouldn't be as heavy underdogs as ND is because they're a better team. Your hypothetical isn't a very good one because you're basically asking, "What if ND were better than Oregon. Would you still think Oregon were the better team?" My point is that Oregon would likely play better in the title game than ND will, regardless of the spread.

I understand that Notre Dame is undefeated on paper and I understand why they're playing. I know that's how the game works. I'm saying, from the gambler's team evaluation perspective, there's a good reason to think Oregon is actually the more talented team when considering more than just the win-loss record.

The Big 12 is pretty good. Wasn't UCLA a FG away from winning the Pac-12?

Baylor was a middle of the pack Big 12 team.

Actually if they had ruled Stanford's 4th down play a TD that would've only given them a tie after the 1st OT with the extra point.
