AP source: Big 12 expects A&M's departure
By STEPHEN HAWKINS, AP Sports Writer – 2 hours ago

Big 12 officials expect Texas A&M to announce within the next week that it plans to leave the conference.

A person with knowledge of what was discussed during a conference call of the Big 12 board of directors Saturday told The Associated Press that Texas A&M officials talked about their anticipated departure.

"No major surprises," said the person, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitive nature of the talks. "A&M didn't say they were leaving, but certainly gave every indication that's what they plan on doing."

They definitely aren't interested in ever playing for a national championship. They would have an easier road from the Big 12 than from the SEC. The Big 12 has softer teams and no conference championship game.

Big 12 not losing much. TAMU easily replaceable. Don't let the door hit your fat ass on the way out Aggies

they have about a 5% chance to win a conference title in basketball and a 0% in football in the SEC. bad move for the aggies. all because they have little brother syndrome with the longhorns.

Fla St? SEC may be over-doing it. As it stands now, a 12-1 or 13-0 SEC champ effectively gets one of the Natl Champ game bids.

Which is the very reason they're leaving. The Big12 has let Texas run the show and other schools feel left out. At least in the SEC, TAMU will share and share alike in the profits, which it should always be in the first place. Texas are a bunch of money grabbing Aholes. I see other rats jumping off the Titanic shortly.

I live in Houston and go to a lot of Aggie games but with this announcement, I'm about to buy season tickets. Great stadium and now there will be much better games each week. Can't wait to see LSU, Bama or Fla at Kyle field.

Haven't heard much talk about people lining up to join the Longhorn conference... maybe Texas will realize the mistake of abandoning their control over of the SWC and bring back easily controlled ugly step sisters like SMU and Houston?
