Main Card
Andrey Koreshkov vs. Benson Henderson
The main event of the evening will see the title on the line, as Bellator Welterweight Champion Andrey Koreshkov looks to defend his crown against former UFC Lightweight Champion Benson Henderson. Koreshkov is a power striker and ends fights with knockouts frequently. His lone loss was when he took on power wrestler Ben Askren, who ground and pounded him into the loss column. Henderson is a grinder who will get close to Koreshkov and hold him down. Whether it’s clinch or on the ground, Henderson will grind Koreshkov down and make him tired. Henderson earns the belt in his Bellator debut.
Patricio Freire vs. Henry Corrales
Henry Corrales gets the late call to fill in for the co-main event, and he has a lot on his plate when he takes on former Bellator champion Patricio Freire. Corrales was a top prospect when he entered Bellator, but has since cooled off after two losses in a row. He engages in ground battles, but he will find himself a sitting duck on the feet with a savage like Freire. Freire will keep the fight standing and use his big, powerful strikes to accumulate damage quickly. I’d be shocked if Corrales makes it out of the first round of this bout.
Brennan Ward vs. Evangelista Santos
The old war-horse is back, as Evangelista Santos re-links up with Scott Coker under the Bellator banner when he fights staple and contender Brennan Ward. Santos is a power striker, but appears to be past his prime. He can end any fight with one strike, but it just looks like the mileage has added up over time. The opposite can be said about Ward, who is durable and aggressive in looking to get the fight where he pleases. He can’t be far away from a welterweight championship shot, so expect him to fight like he’s got so much to gain. He takes the win here, spoiling the debut of “Cyborg.”
Brent Primus vs. Gleristone Santos
Undefeated prospect Brent Primus looks to continue his perfect run as a pro so far, but an experienced, skilled Brazilian by the name of Gleristone Santos is dead set on stopping that run. Santos is well-rounded, and will definitely hold the advantage on the feet in this fight. To contrast him, Primus is more of primarily a grappler, using his submission skills on the mat to secure most of his wins. Santos has more tools to win this fight, especially if he thwarts takedowns. Give me Santos in this fight, who erases the memory of a split decision loss to John Teixeira in his last bout.
Michael Page vs. Jeremie Holloway
The phenomenal Michael Page makes his awaited return to the Bellator cage in the main card opener, and Jeremie Holloway is tasked to take on the deadly Brit. Holloway has built his 7-1 pro record with victories over low-level talent, so this appears to be yet another squash match for “Venom” Page. Page is a technical, quick, athletic and explosive striker that doesn’t take much time when it comes to ending fights. He will do that here again, downing Holloway with another highlight reel knockout.
