Trainer: Floyd Mayweather laying groundwork for comeback

    lol comeback??

I do not think you ever left...your money hungry and will fight until the money dries up

Floyd Mayweather has remained firm that he has no desire to return to boxing. However, Gennady Golovkin’s trainer, Abel Sanchez, believes that Mayweather is using his retirement to build toward a huge return fight with his unbeaten knockout artist.

“He just seems to be fixated on Golovkin,” Sanchez told the "On The Ropes" podcast. “I’ve seen three or four pieces in the last couple of weeks where he’s talking about beating Golovkin. It looks like he’s laying the groundwork for something, whether it’s Golovkin or somebody else. Floyd is laying the groundwork for a comeback.”The boxing world has been clamoring for a showdown between GGG and Mayweather for quite some time. Golovkin has even offered to come down in weight to put the fight on a level playing field. However, Mayweather has shrugged off the Kazakh fighter on several occasions and opted to go with Andre Berto for his retirement fight. But since Mayweather’s supposed swan song, the topic of a return fight and GGG has been brought up again and again.
“Triple G, not being disrespectful, but he's straight up and down, no special effects,” Mayweather said. “That’s easy work.”
He’s also expressed that he would never be interested in moving up from 147 pounds to 154 pounds to meet Golovkin. But regardless of the weight differential, Mayweather doesn’t see the man who has knocked out his last 21 opponents as much of a threat.
Sanchez doesn’t see Mayweather being necessarily dismissive of the opportunity. Instead, he sees “Money” using GGG’s name to drum up interest in a return fight. Considering that Mayweather is just effective as a promoter as he is a fighter, this doesn’t come as a surprise to Sanchez.

“I think you lay the ground work, you say things to see how people react [and] you say things to see if it’s something that the public wants and he’s gauging that,” Sanchez said. “We’ve always known that Floyd was a great businessman, so it’s all part of a plan for him. There’s nothing that he says or does that is not calculated.”The rise of Golovkin has been well documented and a showdown with Mayweather could potentially do huge numbers considering the stark contrast in styles and the fact that Golovkin his been rolling through the sport ever since he secured the silver medal as a middleweight in the 2004 Summer Olympics. He’ll face Dominic Wade on April 23 with the plan being to take on Canelo Alvarez in September in what would be the biggest fight that can currently be made between active fighters. However, should Mayweather decide to return, it will be assumed that a Mayweather-GGG bout would take precedence over one with Alvarez.
The likelihood right now for a Mayweather-GGG fight is slim, but you never know what Floyd Mayweather is up to.

If he fights again to make it 50-0 it will be against Adrien Broner. They are already setting it up through dumbass social media shit.

Their is very little reason for Floyd to fight GGG at 40 years old unless he needs a payday. If it is a money issue though, he could pocket another $50 mil minimum to fight just about anybody.

Hardly could call him entering a ring a fight. If they do fight save your money I will tell you what will happen right now. It will end in a decision with May winning. Rounds filled with about 5 punches thrown and a constant dancing around the ring.

So what you're saying is his opponents just can't touch him? Because the ring isn't that big. He puts on a defensive clinic and grinds it out. He's not 23 anymore KOing people.

mayweather loves to bluff, its very likey hes coming back for his 50th win. golovkin, santacruz, danny garcia, thurman, are the most likely or even bradley after he fights manny. age is not a factor for mayweather, i think hes just waiting for a boxer to pick up steam to be able to sell the fight as ppv.

Just sounds like GGG camp trying to coax a fight.

GGG too heavy for mayweather, too skilled at that weight, no way mayweather fights him. Mayweather defense is all time great but GGG just too much power, even for mayweather. Floyd knows this, no way he fights him.

Calling him a knockout artist is like calling the 6ers a dangerous squad of veterans.

are you fukkin nuts? it would be hard for GGG to hurt floyd when he can't see out of his swollen up eye balls. GGG has zero defense and even an old, brittle handed mayweather would still have enough skill and steam to puff up that dude's face. watched a few of his fights and he just walks through tomato cans. in against elite fighter dude would get lit up.

and floyd don't need the money

Floyd Mayweather net worth: Floyd Mayweather is a world renowned American boxing champion who has a net worth of $400 million. Floyd Mayweather was born on February 24, 1977 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. During his career, Floyd has won an unprecedented six boxing championships in five different weight classes: Super Featherweight, Lightweight, Junior Welterweight, Welterweight twice and Super Welterweight.

Mayweather should ask for $500 million for his next fight, and say he will fight anyone.

golovkin is too slow and flatfooted for mayweather. theres more to boxing than punching power, especially when fighting someone like mayweather.

You have no idea what you are talking about. GGG weighs almost 20 lbs more than mayweather, 2 inches taller, he is a career middle weight who has basically destroyed everyone who has been put in front of him. There is ZERO FUKKIN chance floyd takes a chance against him, ZERO. Personally I think floyd is way more skilled defensively than any fighter EVER, I have made money hand over fist betting on him. But to step into the ring against a guy wayyy out of his weight for the first time ever is absurd. It's even more absurd to think he will be able to take a punch from Golovkin who has the most power we've seen at that weight in a really long time. Why would floyd take a chance like that?

If you weighed 150 lbs, would you step in the ring with a guy close to 170lbs ?? As fast as you might be only takes one punch. Believe me i think GGG is unproven, but to say he couldn't hurt floyd is ludicrous.

Floyd is making money outside of boxing. He may be flashy but he isn't completely stupid like Mike Tyson.

I'd love to see that fight, it would be the first time I would be interested in actually watching a floyd fight. It is not very fun when you already know the outcome so no point in watching and that certainly isn't floyd's fault. I didn't even watch most of pacman fight but maybe that was just a coincidence since pacman was injured lol Speaking of, if floyd was going to come back no reason not to rematch pacman. People can talk all the shit they want but they will buy and watch.

who gives a shit about broner fight anyways?

Also, don't count on broner fight...

theres no doubt weight makes a difference. golovkin does have power but is not the monster hes hyped to be. theres a reason he is unproven, 34 years old, toughest fight has been against lemieux and murray lol. who is he fighting next?

im not a mayweather fan but he would take this caveman to boxing school.

I would love to bet on floyd one more time, it's easy to realize how under weighted you were when he is gone. It was nice having those easy wins twice a year.
