    Vegas Got Crushed On Fight

Ronda Rousey packed a punch — well, at least at the Las Vegas sports books.
Jay Kornegay, vice president of the Westgate Las Vegas Superbook, said Rousey’s stunning loss to Holly Holm on Saturday night exceeded the handle for an average NFL game and topped numbers for any previous Rousey fight. And Rousey wasn’t the only one who lost Saturday night.
“The results around town were not good,’’ Kornegay told USA TODAY Sports, referring to Las Vegas sports books. “Most books got crushed as typical underdog betting was popular.’’

The consensus line: betters had to wager $900 on Rousey to win $100 and could wager $100 on Holm to win $600.
Betting tickets on Holm outnumbered those on Rousey by a 5-fo-1 margin at Westgate, according to Kornegay.
“They love low risk, high reward on those fights,’’ Kornegay said. “The rematch should be huge.’’

Always nice when gamblers outsmart Vegas.

No they didn't. Where are all the pics of the dime bets on Holm??? Offshore lines better for MMA majority of the time. Maybe some sharps bet big, but this is the books using a historic event to grab a headline. There's a reason the articles lists ratios and not hard dollars. Average Holm bet was prob $50.

I was at the fight for Tyson/Holyfield 1 and the books got their asses kicked. Holyfield was a 40-1 underdog at 1 point. Who the hell was betting on Tyson at those odds? The line went from 40to1 to 30to1 to 6 to 1 at fight time. Lot's of folks got paid on that fight. It took over 45 minutes waiting in line for me to get paid out.

some books probably need to win like 35% of their bets to break even with the juice they get on both sides

They did it right though with a super duper rapey spread. -2000/+1000, -1000/+500, whatever it was. Nobody serious would have touched that. Imagine if sharp money was there too! All squares that will give it back this weekend.
