To be honest, I thought Trujillo hit him with the illegal knee on purpose, but once I saw the replay, I thought that you could argue that it was the thigh that hit the face, not the knee.

James Irvin KO'd Terry Martin with a thigh to the face. Knees to the head from the thai clinch often land with the thigh as well due to the angle, yet still due huge damage. The Anderson Silva knee than busted Roch Franklin's face in their first fight was all thigh.

No it didn't it barely grazed his face, look at the movement of Bowling's head a knee in that instance would have jerked his neck backwards, his eyes are also clear the followup punches on the other hand made them completly glaze over.

I never said the knee KO'd him (it was definitely the punch, if at all), but you're crazy if you think it didn't hit his head. Also, I agree with LF's point about the "thigh strike".

You're raising your leg up and bending it. Your knee is on the front of you leg in that position, not the top. The top is what lands and that is your head. The only knee strikes that usually lands with that actual knee are to the body.
