    Miguel Cotto +500 vs. Mayweather

Oddsmakers totally disrespecting this man. He is a 4 time world champion in 3 different weight divisions.

I understand Floyd is naturally going to be the favorite in any fight he's in, but these odds are totally disrespectful of Miguel.

Cotto was a very good fighter. He is nothing special anymore. Unless he sticks to throwing a ton of body shots he has no chance. -700 is heavy chalk and it will likely drop closer to fight time with all the Cotto bets placed for a big payout.

No chance, but hopefully folks agree with you so Floyd backers get a better line. Seems like this conversation takes place every bout. I remember the line dropping against Hatton and Ortiz in particular.

Fight will absolutely look a hell of a lot closer than "+500" and those of you idiots who think Floyd is magic now given all the hype (Lou) will have to acknowlege this. The problem is that if Cotto wins 7 rounds, Floyd will win a unanimous decision, similar to how Pacquiao got the nod over Marquez. The money wins, pun intended.

I think people are misunderstanding what I'm saying.

Floyd should be favored. I do think Floyd will win the fight.

That being said, for a guy like Cotto to be +500 is completely disrespectful to Miguel.

    That's all I'm saying.

The oddsmakers are acting like he's some average joe with no chance whatsoever to win the fight.

    Not the case at all.

Mayweather won't KO him with one punch and he might even get off to the typical slow start but he will cut him and he will eventually TKO him or turn his face into hamburger meat. Cotto was a great 147 pounder but after his first fight with Margarito and the beating he took from Pac Man he is not the same. He beat a guy who couldn't punch his way out of a wet paper bag in Foreman, a past his prime Mayorga and Margarito without his magical wraps and with one eye. At this point in his career Ortiz even had a better chance than Cotto. Cotto is shop worn and this is coming from somebody who is a fan of Cotto because the guy is a total class act... Unlike many in this sport.

Funny you say that, because in Floyd's entire professional career the only lukewarm "controversial" decision was the first fight against Jose Luis Castillo. He gave him a rematch and left no doubt who the better man was, unlike Pacquiao who arguably lost to Marquez twice and drew once. He's not a fighter that's "hyped" for no reason, the dude's only hit the canvas by accident.

Floyd is in for his toughest test. He is getting older and lost his legs a bit. Real odds should be +275

Only way I will lose is if cotto can knock me out which we all know is not happening. Even if cotto is able to win more rounds than I which is impossible, I will still get the nod. We don't want to prevent my next fight with Pacquiao from happening now do we?

You forgot to mention that in his entire career he's ducked the three toughest challenges he's faced: Prime Margarito, Cotto, and now Pac. At least he's fighting Cotto now, five years too late when it appears to be safer. Maybe he'll fight Margarito next, lol.

Don't get me wrong, I think Floyd is a top 3 or 4 pound for pound boxer. But no doubt you just read that and *shat* your pants that I didn't put him easily and obviously #1, amiirite???

Did you watch the first fight against Castillo? That you would describe it as a "lukewarm" and "controversial" decision is interesting. Floyd obviously lost, a very clear robbery. Yes he's a lot better than Castillo and proved it in rematch, and perhaps his claimed "hand injury" for the first fight is a legitimate excuse. All completely irrelevent. His "0" should be a "1" without any doubt. Why can't you simply admit this about your hero? I don't think anyone can argue about the first two Pac/Marquez fights honestly, they were simply too close. Everyone should accept the judges decision on those two close fights or they are being dishonest (see Floyd Mayweather camp). I could not find 7 rounds to give Pac for the third fight. There are 6 that Marquez absolutely won plus three close rounds that ALL would have to be generously given to Pac, so that was obviously a gift for the bigger money fighter.

Gtfo with "Floyd ducked cotto" bs....cotto was ringside when Floyd whooped gatti in ac....cotto said he wasn't ready for Floyd...u think arum wanted to put cotto in with Floyd after Floyd left top rank? He won't put his cash cow now in with Floyd....the minute cotto was free of arum he got a deal done with Floyd in no time

Floyd claimed an injury in the first Castillo fight....gave him an immediate rematch(unlike PAC who waits years just hoping Marquez was too faded at 38 to give him fits)...PAC has blamed cramps to even socks for losses and bad performances....Floyd erased any doubt....I see u like counting "almost losses" or losses where a lot of people thought the other guy actually won....so well throw at least two more l's on pacs record then too....I'll take Floyd's record everyday with that 1 loss u like to count over pacs with two more attached

**** outta here with Floyd avoided a prime cotto...as I'd arum woulda ever served up his puerto rival cash cow to get carved up by Floyd...he's scared to death now of having PAC get carved up

If Floyd had never fought jmm the PAC Floyd fight is prob made by now

Its funny to listen to PAC fans say "styles make fights" as an excuse as to why manny had trouble yet again with jmm...and they say "just because PAC struggled again with jmm doesn't mean Floyd would beat PAC....cause styles make fights"

Yet these same people alway cry "ya but manny blew out Oscar and hatton" when people note Floyd Already got them....they forget about the whole styles make fights argument then...they forget about Floyd's style

Pacs team was expecting their man to blow jmm out...38 and at 147 where his fans claimed he had no business fighting when Floyd dominated him....nobody in his camp wanted any part of Floyd after watching that....and ten there was manny telling Freddie he was cramped up...lolol....if manny n his people believed that styles makes fights bullshit they'd have come to the table instead of arums laundry list of excuses as to why the fight couldn't happen in may(my fave is because he wanted to make the 4th installment...we all want to see a 4th fight when one of the fighters hasn't win one of the previous 3)

Cotto "outboxed a shot slow margarito, big deal, Floyd will do just enough to win 10 or 11 out of 12 rounds. This will be a real snoozer

i still have a hard time dealing with the fact that there are people out here still posting/believing that floyd ducked margarito and cotto...and even pac....

u notice how easy it was for floyd to make a cotto fight the moment cotto had no ties to arum? just a conicidence? ....

weve seen margarito get fuckin obliterated by shane mosley(this version of shane mosley was denied a fight with pac...shane even saying hed go to 140 for it....freddie told shane straight to his face they didnt want the fight).....we saw him thoroughly outboxed by cotto(cotto was thoroughly outboxing him the first time but was too proud/stubborn to clinch when necessary...shane used that tactic to dominate margs and cotto used it in the 2nd fight)...he was abused by pac.....yet people actually think this guy would have posed floyd some sort of problem...lol

cotto said several times he wasnt ready for floyd back in the day...and when floyd split with arum there was no way he was letting cotto get beat by floyd.....

people said the same shit about floyd before he fought shane...."oh he should have fought him years ago...he waited too long".....floyd called for a shane fight times when he was younger...way before he was a superstar...but shane was the name...and floyd was high risk/low reward for shane....shane blew him off....merchant asked shane about floyd, in the ring, after a fight...shane said "i got a tooth i have to get taken care of and i have a vacation planned...so i dunno right now"......shane was crying for this fight/payday when his wife was filing for divorce and he needed the payday....

arum wont let floyd near any of his fighters...ones with earning power....he threw 8 mil and margarito at floyd years ago.....but cmon...margs is not an earner for arum...hes a name....but him losing doesnt hurt top rank at all.....do u really think the guy would have given floyd a hard time?

if floyd hadnt fought jmm we might have seen pac/floyd....if pac had just blown jmm out we might be lookin at pac/floyd in may.....arum isnt letting his prize get beat by the top p4p figther in the world.... a fighter he doesnt have any control over and one whom left his company to become a megastar in the sport

we saw the blueprint on how to beat floyd from the first castillo fight. the way to beat floyd is to go to the body. dont go headhunting. you'll be in for a long night. hit the body, then when the hands come down to block the body, you can sneak the shots over the top.

watch the first castillo fight and you'll see what im talking about.

floyd obviously more talented. no contest there. but cotto might make a fight out of it if he can go to the body early and keep pounding it all night.

Problem is Cotto no longer has the speed to throw enough body shots and avoid being caught with clean counters. With his swelling/cut problems it should be a long frustrating evening for him. I like both fighters but it is a mismatch.

Also don't forget Cotto can only win via stoppage. Assuming Pbf makes the finnal bell he will get the nod regardless of what happens in the fight. Unless the odds change i will be laying off unless the odds change. I will not put my money on a fighter who i think has no chance but at the same time in boxing fighters get old over night and i'm pretty sure i saw father time in the audience at Floyd' s last fight Unless the odds drop 100 points plus i'll be setting this one out

of course it's a mismatch. I'm just saying Cotto's strategy needs to be to target the body. it might be tough since he lost a little speed. but if he doesn't go to the body he has no shot. not trying to say cotto will win. floyd obviously better by no contest.

But if you are fighting floyd, i think going to the body is how you attempt to get it done. if you watch the first castillo fight thats what happened. floyd stands there with his peekaboo defense. you punch the body. then when the hands come down to block the body, you sneak the shots over the top.

but the reality is...floyd fought cautious....it was the biggest stage hed ever been on and a fight where he knew a victory would propel him to stardom

that wasnt a weight drained corpse 147 oscar....that was a 154 oscar that was the man at 154(although obviously not a peak oscar).....i think if floyd could have done it over he might have been more aggressive and opened up more(although the way things went for him after that fight id say he might just do it the same all over again).....it was his first and only fight at 154.....i think he was a bit unsure of himself against a bigger guy.....oscar was having some success with the jab early...and floyd neutralized it pretty well.....floyd won a 154 title against a legit 154 champ....he didnt fight for a vacant 154 title at a 150 catchweight and claim to be a 154 titlist like some people we know

thats an awesome contribution....great insight too....

thats the thing some of you hating ***** need to realize....as confident as floyd is and as cocky as he comes across.....when it comes to prepping for a fight...he treats every opponent the same...from carlos baldomir to miguel cotto.....he trains like a broke man whos coming up in the game......i think it was summed up best in the first episode of 24/7 when 50 said that during the ortiz ring walk he whispered in floyds ear "this guy is tryna stop you from feeding your kids"........thats how he looks at it....maybe someday someone might beat him.....but it wont be because he didnt prepare or took somebody for granted.....

all of the haters love to talk about floyd and his money...and root for him go broke....what they dont realize is that hes got more money and a way better deal than pac....pac is going to end up broke soon....you just dont hear about his finances....hes getting ****** by top rank and has about 100 hands in his pockets.....this guy will begging floyd for a fight soon if bob arum will ever let manny out to play against someone who isnt controlled by top rank
