I only had him on a $5 parlay, big money is on Aldo. I just couldn't trust Guillard with his history. This fight was eerily similar to the Joe Stevenson fight.

Nope had Lauzon by Sub though at +645 though which was almost as good as the +750 Sub of the Night odds on offer

At least in the Nate fight he was doing well, the Stevenson and Lauzon fights were both under a minute ha.

What a ******* hoax. I'll never buy the hype again. Glad the lines got so outrageous, or I would've bet hard.

    Guillard cannot defeat submission fighters.

Had Lauzon +350 because my bookie doesnt offer props. Only for 1/4 unit because I thought Melvin was rightfully the fav. I thought if it went to the ground Joe would sub him, and he did

Trouble started with that Kanye West ring walk. Guy was WAY too amped up fighting in Houston (his wife's hometown). Lauzon has a notoriously bad gas tank, but is always dangerous early. DUMB DUMB DUMB Melvin. The sub wasn't surprising. That was a formality if it hit the ground. My eyebrows were raised by the jab that shook him. Seemed to have nothing on it. But JoLau didn't have to throw it hard - just straight. Melvin ran right into it.

With Maia, Simpson, Aldo, Phan, Sonnen all winning - trust me. The sportsbooks LOVE Melvin's dumb ass today. Busted tons and tons of parlays - every other strong fave held serve.

fight reminded me of Vernon Forrest vs Mayorga, he came out rapping and cheering...and then got finished off quick.

Watch Guillard vs. Stevenson again. Daddy dropped him with a jab too.

    Good call. Forgot about that.

Still incredible to me the pageantry that was taking place walking to the ring.

Melvin said in an interview pre-fight that he paid $3000 to have hundreds of t-shirts printed up "Melvin 'The Young Assassin' Guillard - Next Light Weight Champ". Melvin said he gave them out for free all over Houston to build his image and spread the word.

Guy was focused on everything but winning the fight.

    Melvin is too cocky..
same problem he had before. Jackson managed to get it under control and turned guillard into a disciplined and patient fighter. A few wins gets to his head and he thinks he is unstoppable. Maybe he's been hanging out with Rashad too much. Or maybe he's black... hard to tell a black man to not be cocky lol
No doubt in my mind a Jackson trained guillard would have picked lauzon apart until he found the KO.
Instead we have melvin leaping in with no concern or fear and throwing the biggest bombs he can.

Joe Lauzon's biggest fan breaks down the fight, says Lauzon "teleported" to Guillard's back:

Melvin had won 5 straight but lets look at it closer. I though he lost a close decision to Jeremy Stephens and the other good win was over Evan Dunham. wins over Roller, Lowe, Torres are record building fights.

Does he beat wrestlers with strong top games like Jim Miller, Clay Guida or Gray Maynard?? Then its a 50/50 fights against guys with sub skills like Bocek, Sotiropoulos, Cerrone

i can attest to this. i had melvin in a bunch of small and mid-sized parlays, and everything hit except melvin. even had a few with elkins and miocic. what a painful betting weekend with guillard and then the ny giants yesterday. what a joke. i must have had about 20 parlays this weekend and only hit on 1 of them. lol. lost about 38 units.

What confused me was didn't Guillard come out with Greg Jackson cornering him???

I thought Melvin was a Blackzilian now...

    I's confused.

He spent most his camp with Blackzillians but clearly stayed in touch with Jackson and had him in his corner rather than Van Arsdale (who focused on Jorge Santiago). Jackson didnt look that enthralled tho, I think maybe he sensed the old arrogant over-confident casual Guillard creeping back in!

I love it. I had it 60/40 for Guillard coming into the fight. When I saw the odds at +375 on bodog, I had to jump in with a $30 bet. I thought Guillard would get caught after a fierce tradeoff but I can't believe creepy Joe pulled off that knockdown. YES!

Same -- I had Guillard in almost everyone of my parlays. VERY painful night.
I was fortunate enough to put "Lauzon Submission" in a few parlays as a hedge.
It saved me from A TOTAL DISASTER.

I made a profit on my first few events, so I came into this event with a ton of confidence. Guillard, with a little help from Aldo not finishing inside the distance and Stephens losing that close decision, has lowered my confidence level tremendously.

Now I have to worry about climbing my way back to even.

With that being said, I plan on betting on Guillard in the future as long as he's not facing another submission artist.
