Why are Neteller and Skrill so poor rated?

I just recognized how poor Neteller and Skrill are rated in the web, especially by users from Trustpilot. Just google "Neteller reviews" or "Skrill reviews" and this is what you get.

I'm just wondering because I'm a customer at both services for approx. 5 years now not having one single negative experience.

Is it a "smear campaign" by competitors? Or is is just the small percentage of unhappy customers of the huge amount of total customers that rate them negative and everybody else who has no problems wrap themselves in silence?

    Very strange.

I personally don't like them. Think their fees are too high, they design their system to maximize fees, they take actions on behalf of merchants I don't think are fair and sometimes dont think could be legal either, and their CS can be hit n miss as to getting help.

That said, they have millions of happy customers with the same experience as you, so if the fees seem fine the way you use them, I would not let bad reviews worry you too much.

It is less the fees people are complaining of but lots of confiscated accounts for no reason that makes me worrying: **************

Many scam accusations there. Topics e.g.:

"- Legal Scam- They stole my money- Scam.- Neteller is a big scam- Net teller is a SCAM!!!! SO NOT USE THEM!!!!- Stolen My money- Top scammer nettler.com Stopped my account when I funded 560 USD- MARK MY WORDS DONT MAKE AN ACCOUNT- Scam!!!- Neteller organised fraud, Their staff are changing customers details,so they can close your account and claim your money- It's just a fake side- Got new account in order to get a virtual **********, the scammers required to transferm some money to verify my account when I did, "stupid me" nothing says how and where to get this card now I have- Company that crashed and burned.- HORRIBLE COMPANY- “Neteller is a big scam!”- FRAUD- Don't ever use this site. scam.- Simply Fraud- Cheating is their middle name..."

    ^^^

I have to read a lot of complaints and honestly any time I see someone yelling at me over and again that the site is a scam like that I tend to be wary that they might be the scammer in some way. Which often proves true.

People with genuine problems can usually get them sorted out and don't tend to go ballistic trying to "warn everyone" and use the word scam over and again without even trying to explain the full story.

As I said, I have seen instances where I think they do not act fairly, but it's usually a merchant (book) account manager doing things on advice from their client without proper review. I don't think Skrill/NT as a company have 'scammy' intent.

    Can you say why?

I don't care about the fees. The most important thing for me is that they are reliable and don't close someone's account overnight for no reason like bookies do.

Never had a problem myself, and fees are still pretty minimal as long as you keep to the same currency. Only one I ever pay is a bank withdrawal, which is a fixed £3 or so.

Having said that, heard some horror stories.

All I can say is that I've been using Skrill (formerly Moneybookers) for over a decade and rate them very highly.

    No issues of any consequence.

And the only fees I ever pay are when sending funds to a non-bookmaker. And they are extremely low.

And I've reaped hundreds of dollars worth of cash bonuses and gifts from loyalty points.

I think they are perfectly fine if you use them for your own accounts, and never involve another person. A lot of people use them to fraudulently multi-account sportsbooks, but between Skrill and the sportsbook (who share information 100%) this often gets discovered and then the account gets locked and we hear the screams of "scam" on the internet.

I agree that they become shit since paysafe bought them. Their support was the best by far(with a possibility to use skype and schedule a phone call) now is bureaucratic or inexistent. I have had an issue and I have had to call for them, pay the international call just to reopen my account. Around 30 minutes to wait the operator and 5 minutes more to answer the questions.

The Net+ pre paid card that was the best thing that they've created has been discontinued in some countries.

Btw, i still think that their are the best e-wallet and now they dont haven't a lot of competition, except by the people that opt to use bitcoin.

I still think that they are 3 stars.

skrills usefulness has steadily diminished partially due I guess to it being so popular with ya multiaccounters.
Their wanting to know 'source of wealth' including reams of betting data/payslips means that in future they can fro

CS is almost non existent now. When they dropped the Net+card (except for euro) they forced away many more customers. Strange business model after DOJ got finished with them.

Totally agree. They closed my VIP Skrill account. If someone create a compnay like them, they will lose a lot of customers.

For them to have closed your account (unless it was due to regulatory issues with your country of residence for which you can't hold them accountable) you must have violated their T&Cs.

So what did you get up to?

Same here, I'm not paying them 2.5% so they can take my money and charge a merchant another 4%. That's just plain greedy. There are other options available. I'm making it a point to avoid them everywhere now.

"I have a VIP Gold account" - this renders your opinion totally worthless as 99% of the Skrill customers will never have that one.

They charge 1% (one PERCENT) fee on SEPA bank deposit (which is charged less than €1 in general); they charge 1.45% on user transfer, they charge flat €5 on bank withdrawals etc etc.

How can anyone justify charging SEPA transfers in this era is beyond me. Also, some EMI's are not working with Skrill anymore, you cannot send funds to your Skrill account via some of them.

I agree, they are legit but the fees are a pain and I can confirm Alfie's experience that they blocked many merchants for some reason. Started to switch to Ecopayz and Bitcoin, sometimes Sofort/Trustly when available.

    The bolded part for sure.

+ their customer service is hard to reach.

If only more bookmakers could allow deposits and withdrawals with Advcash. I only know Easysportbet who accept payments with Advcash with zero fee.

These Russian eWallets (Advcash and Payeer) used to have even higher fees when I used them a few years ago. Their fiat money to BTC conversion rate was a joke (they took 100 of a 1.5k payout or so) and there was no other possibilty to take out the money than via BTC for me

    Did it change?

Advcash is basically a free service, but don't convert Bitcoin indeed, the rate is a joke. I signed up to Advcash 2 years ago because they had a plastic card to withdraw in any ATM, the card has been disabled last year but they will provide a new one soon.
