As long as they have the lead and end it quickly they actually help me out with the Under. Its just so expected sometimes with him in crucial spots, tie games, etc. Like hes supporting fellow short stops all over the Country.

Almost 3 double plays today he batted into. 2 were fielding erros so he got real lucky.

He is getting older, Yanks will be insane to give him another huge contract but they will anyway.

sharp post. I agree JJ. he will be a Yankee for life but you can't give any kind of 5-6 year deal IMO.

He'd be a lot better off if he just struck out like ARod does in big games most of the time ...

Jeter is overrated, sucks in the field and is only a legend because he "use" to be clutch all the time. Now he just bats well and fields terrible. One of the worst defensively at his position. While he might be a good bat, should be able to find plenty of shortstops better than him.

Last time I checked the yankee's weren't in the world series so bash all you want. Its a old roster that needs to get rid of its aging talent.

    1. Jeter
    2. Damon

are the first that come to mind...

I honestly think Jeter is the past, best to trade him and get value before its too late.

He definitely doesnt suck in the field. And if anyone thinks that they ovbviously dont watch the yankees daily. This game alone, and every game hes in he comes up with amazing throws, and jump/spins in the air to just get someone out by a hair. Agree hes overpaid, but sucks in the field? NO WAY.

And yes he has some fielding erros, who doesnt?

He's statistically one of the worst defensive short stopsi n the league. Only reason he's a Yankee is because of his bat.

you guys have the most redicoulos claims to say Jeter is bad. I know these people in here that say get rid of Jeter obviously do not watch the Yankees play. He is a very productive player for them and is solid defensivly. If you get rid of Jeter who should the yankees get to replace him. Honestly. You people say he should be gone...for who? Sometimes I hear the dumbest things on here. PureCarnagge...you have to be the most unkowledgeable baseball fan here. Get rid of Damon? He is in the top 10 this year in batting avg for the AL and before his recent injury was on an absolute tear. Jeez people please...these arguments are retarted. If your gonna make idiotic statements please show me where you are finding evidence to make these moronic claims.

He never got in trouble in the media, combine that with his good looks and you have the King of New York. It's not because of his play.

I think he hit into two double plays last night in the All-Star game. Right to short stop every time.....

It's clear to me that Derek Jeter is beginning the downward trajectory of his career. I can't imagine the Yankees signing him to a long-term deal.

Jeter for sure is overrated, he has never been any better than Micheal Young than any times in their careers, but no one puts Young on the pedestal that Jeter is up on. And for the last 5 years Young has better numbers, and is a better fielder.

He ranks third in the AL presently in the 2008 season with 14. He was seventh (21) in 2007 and ninth (19) in 2005, the only other times he has ranked in the Top 10 for a season in his career.

The single season record is 36 by Boston's Jim Rice in 1984, and Rice is also second on the list with 35 (1985).

I'll try to check this to confirm, but I believe that Brooks Robinson holds the record for hitting into the most triple plays for his career, something like four or five times.

Relax dude, this is one of your biggest weakness is that you are more a fan than a gambler. I can't believe how passionate you are becoming in this thread. Who really cares how good or bad Derek Jeter is. All that matters is how he plays when I (we) bet on him or against him.

Let the fans, sports journalists, and baseball historians argue about how good he is. Gamblers have more important things to worry about it.

You need to start being a gambler, not a fan anymore MJF.....
