    Congrats Joe Mauer

Joe, Adrian Beltre, and Todd Helton are heading to the Hall of Fame

Mauer was the premier AL catcher during his era, Posey in the NL.
Mauer played great defense and hit with the best of them.
I'm a former scholastic catcher, I'm part of the catcher's brotherhood.

Good on you Joe, you earned it.

Beltre was the best third baseman since Chipper Jones.
    Enough said.

    Todd Helton?
Not thrilled with that, but you make a case for Todd because he raked with greats.
I'm OK, but not thrilled with the writers' votes, but OK.

Yes, the writers sure as hell were spot on overall.

Does Billy Wagner ever get in?

One cool Joe Mauer story. Twins are playing the Red Sox. It's when Dustin Pedroia is on top of his game.

Pedroia got a hit in his first at-bat. Second at-bat, Pedroia rips a ball down the line. Looks like it might be a double in the corner, he's racing to first base.

Just foul. Pedroia is walking back to home-plate. The Twins can't get him out.

Mauer says to Pedroia "I'm not sure what to throw you."

Pedroia says "You and the rest of the American League."

The Mattingly bio is pretty clear. Mattingly and Boggs were the best hitters in the AL for some time. Don happened to play with the Yanks for the one stretch of time where the team wasn't exceptional.

Injuries slowed him down later, so there's a question on longevity. How do you rate Don defensively?
