    Happy Harvey Day!!!

Matt Harvey takes the mound for the Orioles. I’d love to fade him but it’s hard to bet the Red Sox.

Ill be tuning in to see if he got any better.

Loved this guy when he played for the Mets. He was so dominant before injuries. Guy would have made 200 million if he didn’t get injured.

I was watching NBC Boston Sports yesterday, they are NBC cable affiliate.
Fenway nation was up in arms about everything yesterday, there will be anarchy if the Sox lose to Harvey today.

I'm a KC fan, I saw those four starts Matt made last year.
    Two words come to mind.

Yea, injuries took its toll on this guy. It’s a shame.

I think you took the over every time he was on the mound last year. I know I tailed you. Guy is going to get shelled.

    Sox have some thump.
    Xander, a few others.

Listen this is a pitcher who once was a major talent reduced to a minor league AA batting practice pitcher.
Been that way now for 3 years pus. Harvey has not improved. He's on a Baltimore staff that is desperate to try anything.
Harvey gave it all he had in KC last season and gave up 7 HR's in 11 innings.
    Come on now.

That was Matt's fault, he wanted the ball and told Collins to give me the fukking ball.

I know a little about the Harvey family and Matt.
    He's from here up the I 95 40 miles.
He's a New London Ct, boy Connecticut boy through and though.
He grew up right off the submarine base here.

When he pitched HS it was must see an appointment watch event.
Baseball locals would come out and watch this 16 year old native, a 16 year phenom strike out 14 other HS kids on a regular basis (in 7 inning frames then)

Best HS pitcher in the nation.
Came down to two schools us (UConn) who are one of the three NCAA beasts of the East region every season or North Carolina.
UNC won out because UConn could only offer Matt a partial scholarship, we blow all our full scholarships on the hoops programs.
UNC offered Harvey a full four year scholarship with all the bells and whistles and the rest they say his history.

Matt's old man was a superstar too but only on the state level.
Thing about the Harvey's is they are hot headed and you can't tell them what to do.
Matt on his behalf finally grew up and got the message.
Too late, the damage was done already.

I don't know all the fine print and all the ins and outs of D1 scholarship rules, you have to have like an advanced degree in contract law to know all that, I do know UNC offered him a full time four year contract that UConn couldn't match

    No, baseball is just fine.
You watch or follow NCAA ball at all?
Vanderbilt is by everyone's opinion and mine too the best team D1 in the nation.
Hands down and it's not even close.

Vandy has two pitchers that on the NCAA level talent like that has never been seen before.
These two kids are beyond phenoms.
Rocker and Leiter (hmmm, where have we heard those two names before?)
Rocker is the top ranked NCAA player, not just pitcher.
Leiter is the 2nd top ranked player not just pitcher.
Leiter is draft eligible, Rocker not yet.

Here, bone up. The future of MLB baseball is just fine.

    Thank you for that.
    Yeah, they are a mess,

    John Henry overpaid for Sale.
Henry couldn't afford Mookie's new asking price so LA got him in a one sided trade.
They over estimated Benintendi they think and won't pay him what he's going to want going forward so they flipped him to us (KC) for a cheaper version (Cordero) as a KC fan I love it.
I think, not sure, but I think they still have to pay Pedroia.
The farm system they neglected is in ruins and the only money they spent is on a good armed but very brittle Garret Richards.

Glory days of Fenway Nation are long gone and will be for a minimum of 3 to 5 years.

Baltimore is decent. Their hitters don't have brand name flare but they can grind it out like san francisco hitters. I think it will be very profitable to bet them blindly anytime they are underdog before all star break.

Another team i like is San Francisco. I am not sure if their pitching, especially relief is good enough to close out games but their offense can slow grind you to death. Team total over for San Fran should be very profitable if you play the spots. Their hitting is pure sabermetrics and can grind the opposing teams to death. The best time to play team total over is when the opposing team with average or below average team defense has their ace starting...and if that teams RP is average or below average and meets the previous criteria also, then it should be 2x the play.

Does any of you know the best way to pull the MLB team's defense as whole based on the starters? Any links would be appreciated. Defense is ignored by many bettors/handicappers...it should be one of the key metrics in baseball while capping to find value lines. I am yet to find a site where you can easily sort and gather up to date defensive information.

I never, ever neglect team defense.

I am on record as saying defense and pitching wins.
    Always have and always will.

Let's look at some of the one year great super teams.

    1984 Detroit Tigers.

They had three gold glove up the middle (C, 2B, SS, CF) winners
Parrish, Trammel, Whitaker, and the CF Chet Lemon should have been the fourth.
A great up the middle defense makes a decent pitcher good, and a good pitcher great.
You think Milt Wicox and Dan Petry won 17 and 18 games that year by accident?
Hardly, they had that unit fielding behind them.

    1976 Big Red Machine.
    Bench, Morgan, Rose, Concepcion....
    All tremendous fielders.

    The list is endless
