First post. Picks and some brief write-ups:
NYM (-210) @ PHI
DeGrom has been excellent of late, pitching to a 1.30 ERA with 0.84 WHIP over his L5. The numbers are stellar away from home, striking out 20.6% batters faced while walking 5% for a 5.14 K/BB. While Philly has been playing well in the second half, the Mets have an opportunity to extend their division lead against a team that they have won 9 out of the L10 meetings. NYM crushing lefties to the tune of 0.305 Avg. over their L10.
BAL (+114) @ KC
Baltimore coming off of a rough 0-4 home series against the Twins. They were heavily favoured in all four losses. KC played a tough back and forth affair in Boston yesterday afternoon. Medlen's first start since 2013 against what should be a very hungry Oriole team slugging 0.428 vs. RHP on the season.
STL @ ARI (+106)
Initially I selected Arizona because of how poorly STL had been hitting lefties during their 5-5 "slump". But their numbers against RHP are not much better. Overall, the Cardinals have hit 0.227/88 wRC+ over the last week, and now bat against one of the best defenses in the league. I'm interested to see how Chacin fares in a ballpark other than Coors field. Expecting a decent game in a late season call-up role with his contract ending in 2015. Lynn might get into some trouble. He has a 1.91 WHIP for the month of August and the Diamondbacks can hit.
