Is It Too Late for Eduardo Rodriguez or Chi Chi Gonzalez to Get Rookie of the Year?

Two guys that have actually lived up to their advance hype for a change.

Rodriguez has allowed a grand total of one run (on a solo homer) and five hits in two starts as a lefty that has hit 97 MPH.

Chi Chi's command wasn't great his first start (five walks) but he still didn't allow any runs on just two hits, and then tonight a Complete Game three-hit shutout.

Up against some tough competition though, with Kris Bryant and the rookie on the Dodgers.

The two pitchers are American League.

Souza has a nice head start, let's see what happens the rest of the way.

But these two had hype before they even threw one pitch in the majors. Not like your garden variety rookies like Bradley.

Bradley had way more hype than either of these two. Gonzalez is the Rangers 6-9th best prospect. Rodriguez is a Red Sox so they hype up everybody. Unless you are a Sox fan or a prospect hound you wouldn't know Rodriguez. He may have a punchers chance at Roy. Gonzalez looks great so far, but it's about to get hot in Texas and his bb/k rate isn't a recipe for success.

Actually, Rodriguez may have a good shot. There just aren't many rookies tearing it up in the AL. Betts sucks, Souzas average is terrible. Preston Tucker would be the favorite now, I guess

Yeah i wasn't really up on off-season MLB news. I am much closer to in-season hype and heard talks about the two guys I mentioned several weeks before they came up.

Rodriguez had his third start for Boston Tuesday night and tossed six scoreless innings allowing just three hits with seven strikeouts, although he walked three. Still, he has a 0.44 ERA and 0.73 WHIP in three starts with 21 strikeouts in 20.2 innings vs. seven walks. He has allowed a grand total of 8 hits and the only run he has allowed came on a solo homer.

Don't think they will win it but there is certainly plenty of time for them to do so. No it is not too late.

For about the umpteenth time (), Rodriguez is in the American League. And what competition does he have besides Souza?

Look like Rodriguez got roughed up badly Sunday, allowing eight earned in 4.1 innings. This could be a good thing as now we could see what he is made of by how he bounces back in his next start. Meanwhile, Chi Chi has allowed a total of one run on three starts. There are no locks in the AL with Souza the leading contender right now.

Joc Pederson has been having an amazing year so far 17 homers I believe. No way an everyday player is gonna lose to a pitcher who wasn't their from the beginning and will likely only make 20-25 starts.
