Get out the brooms, not sure why they are even playing this series. Detroit Tigers 2012 WS Champs, unless SF rehires Dusty Baker immediately. Gonna lay the heavy chalk, -510 Det to sweep.

I am selectively picking the breakdown for these stats, but Scherzer's last 12 starts including post season, he has given up 12 total ER's.

Verlander, really no need to document his dominance, when was the last time you have seen a guy break 100 mph after 100+ pitches. But his last 7 starts including 3 in the post season, he has allowed a grand total of 4 ER's. Epic stuff at the right time of the year. They should win 3 out of 4 of their starts?

Im not saying there not gonna pitch well.... im just sayin SF wins due to Dets offense staying back in Det SF wins the low scoring games.
Verlander was off Last game. He was not good at all. You will see. SF wins atleast 3-1 game 1

Strikeout the hitters same as they have done all year. Same as did against Oakland argubaly the hottest hitting team going into the playoffs. They made them look like the NL west Padres/Dodgers....

He tried showing off by throwing 100mph smoke in 1st inning. He wont do that in a playoff game

Dont forget about Fister and Sanchez that have been just as lights out. Ill take Detroits starting 4 vs about anyone right now. Giants going with Cain, Vogelsong, Zito, Lincecum/Bumgarner??

There's a lot more to this matchup than Verlander vs. Zito.

This is not a time to go big either way.

and 40 y/o octavio dotel throws 82 mph meatballs. bullpen full of gascans so the tigers better do a lot of hitting.

Tigers have been very sub-par against lefties this year. Absolutely true.

It'll be interesting to see if Zito can avoid hitter's counts. If he's getting his curve over, the Tigers might be in for a long game. But if he's going 2-0 and 3-1 a lot....

I give the SF Giants the edge in bullpen. Offense for sure goes to the Tigers. Now if we get a combined 5 games from Scherzer and Cy Verlander Detroit's starting pitching and Giant's starting pitching is a toss up.

Zito is a below average pitcher, his ERA and WHIP are below NL averages. His record obviously is not indicative of the quality of his pitching.

The left hander SF needs in this series is Bumgarner, who showed great stuff the entire season before tiring down the stretch. Bumgarner was tied with Cain in wins and has much better stuff than Zito at this point in his career. SF is literally missing their #2 pitchers for this series, although theoretically he could play, he already admitted he has lost his command and his confidence and they skipped using him since that interview/start.

The rest greatly helped the tigers while SF is totally spent. The Tigers are also fine on the road.
total has gone UNDER in 5 of Detroit's last 7 games on the road
Detroit is 7-3 SU in its last 10 games on the road
