Cain on plunking Holliday: “If one gets away, one gets away”
Giants ace Matt Cain said on the FOX broadcast of NLCS Game 2 that he felt Matt Holliday‘s takeout slide into the left knee of Marco Scutaro was “late.” Cain will start in Game 3 on Wednesday in St. Louis, and may or may not have retaliation on his mind.

Scutaro has been diagnosed with a hip muscle strain and will be a game-time decision on Wednesday.

1) If Cain wants to retaliate, fine, better to keep his fat mouth shut about it though.
2) Late slide? Yes, Intent to injure? Hardly. It's a hard baseball play.
3) Both men go about 6'4" 230 lbs or so, but Matt is a big boy, and could crush Cain one on one. I'd like to see that, but it would go down like this, Cain with a heater under the chin, Matt takes a step to the mound, nanci-boi Poser, I mean Posey steps in, and everybody does a cha-cha-cha Texas two step.

Cousins went out of the baseline deliberately to target Posey. He was not going for homeplate.

1) Appears to me Cousins head is down, he's chugging toward the plate, full out.
2) Appears to me he has no idea if Posey has the ball or not.
3) Appears to me Cousins is running right on the base line.
Now, you could argue, and I might even agree with you, that at the 1:51 mark,Cousins launches a flying shoulder block at Posey, which is questionable, but there is nothing in the rule book that says you can't launch like that. I get what Sabean tried to do, get a rule implicated preventing that going forward, but it's baseball.

hell go look at a pirate/stl gm this year,,couldnt tell you which one, think early aug, def in pit,,one of buccos lit yadi up like a xmas tree, rung his bell pretty good, think he missed few gms with concussion but what happened to posey was very flukish as his leg just got caught...it is crazy how these guys are allowed to unload on a catcher like that, i mean to a degree but you asking for a little trouble with way rule is now, guys gonna get bell rung from time to time, fun to watch tho....
