I think most Yankees fans feel that way.

We have to wait to see Jeter until the end of his career though because Mo is already the greatest ever at his position.

Jeter could make a case as greatest SS ever if he finishes his career with 3600+ hits.

But you're right, just accept them both.

    However............who's the greater Yankee? LOL

One of my favourite. Great player and likeable guy, he didn't begin his career with NY though.

    Hands down Rivera

    Its not even close

98 team probably only one good enough to win without mo

Jeter not a difference maker. Even in his prime. Mo irreplacable

Only difference making play jeter made during the run was the flip in oakland. They are done that year without that play

OK so we got 2 votes for Mo and 1 for Jete.

    What a great argument. It's never-ending.

As for Honus Wagner, yes, right now he's the greatest, but we have to wait until Jeter is actually finished.

What if Jeter gets 4000 hits?

What if he gets to be the all-time hits leader?

    Jeter greater Yankee

Mariano best player at his position ever hands down, only MLB player to be the best at his position unanimously.

strong case can be made that Mariano is the most dominating closer and even pitcher ever, in any era. Jeter is very good, but he is in a group with quite a few other very goods.

Mariano's accomplishments are monumental right now. Jeter still has some years left to finish out and is already in the "great" category and a certain hall of famer.

This is tough. Mariano is Mariano but the Yankees ain't the same without Jeter either.

Jeter and Rivera shouldn't be compared but Jeter is an everyday player with much more responsibility. if I had to choose one over the other it would be Jeter.

I think jeter but this is a great post by a real Yankee fan...made me question my opinion. I still go with jeter for leadership intangibles

    Crazy talk

    Schmidt, Morgan and bench

you might not agree with all three it one of them is definitely unanimously the best. Schmidt would probably be the surest.

Is this a serious question? One is the premier SS of the past 15+ years playing the most difficult position on the baseball diamond and is going to finish in the top 5 in hits all time while the other player is a relief pitcher. There is no comparison. Any person who studies baseball knows that there is no comparison and knows that the most overrated statistic in all of baseball is the "save" and the pitchers who earn "saves." In fact, Rivera may not even be a Hall of Famer and if he is, it will be borderline.
