Interesting matchup Tuesday: Milwaukee (-123) host the Dodgers

Bills has been untouchable so far this season, but he's faced the two worst offenses in baseball (Padres and Pirates). Dodgers away from the west coast for the first time. Gallardo has elite stuff, but he can get pretty erratic. Never really know what you're going to get from start to start.

Kemp's killing the ball for LAD -- no surprise there -- but Ethier is showing just how good he can be when healthy and Gordon has been a threat from the top of the lineup. Dodgers look very solid early on, but this is their first true test.

    Thoughts on this one?

Fade Gallardo. He's comfortable with his contract and has been slacking off

He's had two starts -- looked awful once and pretty solid the other time.

Current Brewers hitting .323 off Billingsley with a .383 OBP. Billingsley has faced two little league offenses so far. Last year at home he had a 3.07 era but on the road he had a 5.34 era with 34 walks and only 70 ks. Not a good ratio. Road batters hit .284 off him.

Current Dodgers hit .254 off of Gallardo (Ethier 2-12, Loney 2-8, Kemp 4-12, Hairston 2-13) with a .293 OBP. Gallardo has only allowed 3 extra base hits to current Dodgers striking out 24 and walking only 4. Last year at home Gallardo was 10-2 with a 3.00 era. In 8 innings against the Dodgers last year, Gallardo had a 1.13 era, Dodgers hit .143 off of him.

Not to mention Joe Public will say "OH MY GOD THE DODGERS ARE 9-1 AND ARE PLUS MONEY!!! THATS FREE MONEY!!!" No, no its not free money. I'll be all over the Brewers.

The numbers are there. The public will be all over LA. Give me Gallardo who loooves pitching at home any day. Dont believe the Dodger hype.

I'm normally big on YoGa at Miller Park, but his first start there vs. the Cards has me skittish.

Cards and Dodgers lineups are worlds apart. You have Kemp, Ethier, and a lot of filler out there in LA. Gallardo owns Ethier.

Gallardo traditionally doesnt fair well against the cardinals.

    True.

Do you like the Reds at all Tuesday? Cueto at + money is intriguing. I'm still having a hard time believing Lohse is this good.

I think in that game it's Cardinals or no play. Dont see any edge with the Reds.

Current Reds hit .228 off of Lohse in 136 at bats. Reds have a .296 OBP.
Current Cardinals hit .314 in 169 at bats off of Cueto with a .385 OBP. He's had 21 ks and 19 walks against them.

I might make a small play on the Cardinals. I believe in Kyle Lohse.

I am starting to believe in Lohse as well. I will warn you though. Billingsly has developed a 2 seam fastball that he has not had in years past. He is pitching to contact and walking a lot less hitters. I know its only 2 games but he is a completely different pitcher now.

The baseball gods have been kind to dodgers so far. I'd rather wait until they show they can actually lose a second game before fading them.

Dodgers look good not sure if I will play it though. Brewers have lost 4 straight, Dodgers won 6 straight. Gallardo always starts the season slow. His bad start was against the Cards, his good start against Cubs. Huge difference in the caliber of those teams. Dodgers seems square and public but think its a winner. Plus Brewers are on a list of teams I think will regress this year so I am looking for spots to fade them because I think they will be over valued. Although the line seems about right in this game IMO. Feel alot more confident backing Dodgers vs Brewers over the Reds vs Cards. Cards and Lohse will most likely be a play for me. GL

I am staying away from this one like its the plague NoCo. Many good points made already in the thread, Dodgers playing over their heads a bit. Gallardo got off to a real slow start last year too, so worried that may be a pattern forming, maybe just coincidence. Bill's has been "turning the corner" for ever now, maybe this IS the year, and there are indications but as you said 2 games against the Pirates and the Pad's ain't enough to convince me yet.

That thinking cost me my Pirate bet last night, however that is the way I approach baseball betting, and I do OK, so Brews is my bet tonight as well.

Can't win every game. Numbers can only take us so far. Human beings that we have no power over have to do the rest. All we can do is inform ourselves.

With that being said, lets go Brewers

That's what I always say when I write up my plays "games are played on the field, not on paper" however you have to take the 'money ball' approach to betting baseball and playing daily fantasy for cash.

If one team has a .374 to .245 edge in OBA, for instance, you can not ignore that.
