LAD: Mattingly a bust as MLB mgr?

    Not too good.

Guy's scared to death of going to the bullpen.

Hard to tell so far, but he has a little bit to learn it seems. It would also help if they had a half-decent team out there in LA. Besides Kemp and Eithier, pretty much garbage. Kershaw is dirty, but the rest of the staff isn't that great. Billingsly, Lilly and Kuroda are just about average. The bullpen is horrible (besides Hawksworth, he's decent)

It's not like you have to be very smart in general to be a baseball manager, obviously you need baseball smarts. He needs a real chance with a real team without all this ownership mess.

i've posted something similar couple months back.

yeah, he's the worst dodgers manager ever, possibly the entire league. he has no clue when it comes to in-game strategy and lacks even common sense. he's basically learning on the job as he has 0 managerial experience and 0 national league experience. but this is something you do in class a ball not the majors.

just an example of his stupidity:

    1. kershaw is dealing but takes him out in a 1-1 game after just 7 innings. was the pitch count too high or was he injured? no. he took him out cause the opposing manager put in a right handed pinch hitter. his reasoning was as retarded as he is.... he thought bringing in a right handed reliever would mean an easy out. instead the relievers surrender 2 runs and they lose the game.

    2. losing by a run late in the game.... first two batters reach base. with a batter hitting just .100 up you'd think a bunt right? nope. lets him swing away and he strikes out. next 2 batters fly out. they lose 2-1.

with the talent the dodgers have, they should be above .500 not 9 games under. his idiotic managerial moves have cost them dozens of games.

what more does ned colleti have to do to get fired? his awful fa signings such as schmidt, andruw, pierre, furcal, man-ram, etc. have cost the team at least $150 million. and now hires the dumbest and the most incompetent manager ever.

here's why he didn't go to the bullpen yesterday.

after pulling kershaw in the 1-1 game i mentioned above, he was crucified by the la media. ever since then he's been scared to pull him in any game. he doesn't seem to understand that every situation is different and you manage accordingly.

Mattingly nice guy- in wrong job.

LAD are a team with very little talent, management in a turmoil and certainly no hope to climb out of doldrums in the near future. If this was soccer they would be relegated to the minor leagues. Mattingly is clearly lost and inept. Would not suprise me to see BOBBY V come out of Sunday night booth and try to turn the team around either as GM or MGR.

It's weird how Jim Tracy sucked as a Dodger's manager but then had lots of success with the Rockies.

i disagree with the little talent comment.

matt kemp - .316 26 hr 84 rbi mvp candidate
    andre ethier - .306
    miles - .295
    carroll - .294

kershaw 2.79 era best pitcher in division
    kuroda 2.96 era
    billingsley 10 wins

they have enough talent to content in the division but donnie has cost them many wins with his questionable decisions.

Fundamentals are gone to shit under mattingly. Defence is awful. Heres the dumb fukk Loney screws up a chance to get a DP and it immediately costs them 2 runs. Now good luck getting those back against Doc.
Certainly not the first time those punks make their pitcher get 4-5 outs per inning...

If a jjgold comment about Mattingly is the first hint his credibility is lacking than you apparently do not pay much attention around this web site.

Seems to me if you're not talking about line movement, you dont really know what you're talking about. Mattingly was a great player but the Yankess were a perenial loser back then, he knows very well what its like to lose year in and year out.
Not one of you have mentioned that the Dodgers have been in complete shambles from a front office standpoint all year. Guys are worried about whether theyre even going to be getting a paycheck and where they will end up next year, tough to stay focused and motivated in that environment.
Mattingly has the potential to be a good manager, give him some time and let the dodgers improve their situation and then critisize.
