    Giants get Keppinger

Astros get Henry Sosa (5.14 ERA in AAA career) and Jason Stroffel (3.98 ERA in AA).

keppinger cant hit long ball....giants have many similar players...they need a guy like beltran or fielder.

Keppinger will probably bat 2nd until Sanchez returns from the DL.

Giants are 1 trade away from having a good chance at repeating.

If giants get beltran, a repeat is a very high possibility...considering that sanchez will be back soon. Also, brandon belt might be called up...he is a stud. Imagine the lineup with beltran/sanchez/ross/huff/sandoval/belt/schierholtz. That lineup is probably better than that of phillies or braves.

Giants should pursue beltran hard...not sure about fielder as he can play only DH.

that line up probably wouldn't work. 5 of those guys would have to be in the outfield.

giants line up if they got beltran and had everyone healthy would probably be:

    Torres CF
    Sanchez 2nd
    Sandoval 3rd
    Beltran LF
    Schierholtz RF
    Belt 1st
    Keppinger SS
    Stewart C
    pitcher

that's a dangerous line up with ross, huff, de rosa (if healthy), fontenot being excellent fill ins.

whiteside hits better than stewart at catcher, but neither of them can hit. i like stewart better because he has a quick release and strong arm.

    Savvy move by the Giants.

Kepp has a good bat and hardly ever strikes out.

Giants won last year with no hitting, what makes people think they won't repeat?

im so confused as to the love for the giants...u think keppinger is the answer to their problems? lol coem on now guys be realistic. philly and atlanta have better teams not to mention the red sox or yankees. i dont see SF beating 2 of those 4 teams which theyll have to do to repeat. winning once while scoring like 2 runs a game was impressive, repeating doing the same thing...basically impossible

Good move, mostly due to injuries at 2nd and short, not the bat or bats they need of course. That wasn't the goal of this trade. Giants GM knows they need a bat, said they were lucky to be 15 games over .500 yesterday.

guy, if you actually follow this giants team you'd know they're one trade away from a deep post-season run. hell, they may not need that trade if sanchez can stay healthy when he gets back. they're not a team that's going to impress you with their power, but they'll string together hits at the heart of their order. they put up 4 runs/game last post-season, which they might be able to do w/o picking up a big bat. their problems aren't who they sign, it's who stays healthy.

oh, and they did lose posey this year, but remember pablo didn't play during the playoffs last year.
