They're both chokers by trade ... hoping to be on the right side of the choke. We'll see if he blows this set or not.

Not too shocking. Like I said, I've backed this guy quite a few times ... but he's done this more than he's come through. Perils of the game.

Gabs is a fu(k up. Couldn't hold serve at 6-5 to win the 1st set. Could hold serve at 5-6 to send 2nd set to a tiebreak. I hate losing, but I like being able to asterisk players for future wagers!

This will be why I am not straying much from the tourney I do the preview on. Never seem to have any luck. Breakfest/shitfest in Argentina.

Ferrer games always has breaks so not sure what you were expecting. Plus it's on clay too which increase the chances of breaks even more.

Ferrer should win this one easy after the first set but just rusty from a little bit of time off and not playing on clay for a while.

Ferrer usually comes to Buenos Aires and takes care of business. The last two years he's dropped three sets in ten matches and all those sets came to decent players. Majority of his sets were nine games or less, maybe ten against some of the better players. He usually mutilates guys like Maximo in similar situations. Perils of the game.

EP, any thoughts on Niculescu vs Mattek? Think there may be some value of Niculescu, thanks.

Eagles Monfils is my favorite player, I'm always hesitant to bet on in general in a superstitious sense but you really think he's good value here? I know Del Po is dealing with the wrist thing or whatever and that Gael has really started this year strong (I believe he'll make a top 10 push this season) but do you see a slight dip, a slight more clown if you will creep into his game coming off a tournament victory? I haven't looked it up, but I'd be curious to see what his record is coming off of a tournament win, sample size small obviously but a curious question none the less.

It does work in his favor that Rotterdam has made a conscious effort to slow down the courts if I'm recalling the correct tournament this week.

Apparently most guys I bet on forget how to close sets once they hear my $ is on them. Way to keep that streak intact Monfils.

    why you pick berrer EP

10 matches in 10 days , relies on his serve and Siljsling is returning well and serving well. his match against Youzny shows some good form for this match-up, he's at home too?

    what am i missing?

Pretty much same reason I got Sijsling -2.5 games. Only way I can see Berrer winning this is if Sijsling hands it to Berrer rather than Berrer actually beating him.

Not really overly concerned with the # of matches Berrer has played. He's had two days off this week alone and a travel day in between tournaments. He hasn't been playing every day.

If he serves like he has so far, I think he's got a realistic shot. KuKu easily could have lost in the opener if he played against someone with some courage. Gabashvili had his shots in both sets, but choked.

speaking of Germans (or, in this case, an "almost" German)...that thiem kid is for REAL...game (and level of composure) super stable for a 20yo...you can see just how special he is by watching the second game of the third set against murray--a game he eventually lost after more than a dozen deuces/minutes--never seized up and went tentative...good skills and ice-water in the veins=a good combination to get into/stay at the upper echelon of the sport

almost an auto-play for me for the next while when he goes up against the bigger names/higher ranks (until the public catches on to just how good he is)

He'll be interesting to watch. Not sure how many tour level events he is scheduled for. Have to remember this is his first venture into main draws if he's playing them more consistently than Challengers. At 113, I don't see why he wouldn't play some more ATP level events, but he might float in between to get his ranking creeping up to where he can avoid playing qualis as much.
