Hi David
We have received a large number of complaints from customers of Canbet
regarding non-payment.
However, I have to advise you that we cannot become involved in any
complaint until such time that complainant(s) are advised by the company
that they are not being paid for whatever specific reason. Up until now
we were expecting most customers to be paid. We have no statutory
powers and only offer a independent, third party opinion in the
settlement and pricing of betting transactions.
IBAS does not have the powers or resources to conduct investigations
into the financial viability of those bookmakers that register with us.
Ultimately, this Service relies upon the cooperation of the bookmaker
with ourselves in order to enable us to complete a satisfactory
adjudication on any dispute. Visit our website
IBAS Home for more
information regarding IBAS.
I appreciate that this does not provide you with the information about
Canbet that you were most likely seeking but where any bookmaker is
apparently repeatedly failing to honour customer payments this is bound
to be squarely a regulatory issue and I know the UK Gambling Commission
have been in touch with Canbet regarding the issue. They may have more
information regarding the situation and I also believe there is also a
report on their website regarding the matter.
However I can advise that a piece did go in the Australian newspaper
Herald Sun a day or so ago and I have attached the above article.
I will forward your request regarding an interview onto our Managing
Director, Richard Hayler, to respond to.
Regards
Danny Cracknell
