i definitely think that's what so many people - maybe me - have missed. namely, that this could go on for many months.

why is this so much bigger than SAR's? i'm in canada which was a SAR's epicenter. but i certainly don't remember all kinds of cancellations like this. it seemed like life basically went on much much more than in this case.

why is this so much bigger than SAR's? i'm in canada which was a SAR's epicenter. but i certainly don't remember all kinds of cancellations like this. it seemed like life basically went on much much more than in this case.

1) social media at a real high point now compared to years ago
2) more zombie and plague like movies/shows frightening people more than then
3) CNN calling any new headline breaking news - not knocking CNN but no need for breaking news constantly with every new headline
4) we as a whole are more pussified now than ever

i got a response elsewhere of more contagious than SARs and you can have the symptoms and be spreading it and not even know. apparently the latter was NOT the case with SARs.

SARs was huge here in canada. but not too much life disruption, and then it left.

wiki (i think) has a nice SAR's graph showing it last 2-3 months. this is already pretty far along based on that time frame. not sure if it's the correct time frame.

CNN/CNBC/Fox etc. need to grab some experts and just ask them basic questions. no "talking head" vagueness.

I just watched the documentary referenced in this thread. Shit almost lasted a year, like 10 months or something. We're in for a rough ride if this gets anywhere close to that.

They said in just one month 200,000 Americans died. That's unimaginable. That's like an entire city dying. They said it got so bad cops were shooting people in public that didn't have masks or scarves on. Some people that got it committed suicide so they wouldn't spread it to their families.

In Boston, the same day they won the WS, people we're dropping dead from it right outside the stadium. This was probably the most shocking take away though. The age group that had the most deaths was 20-29, not the elderly or infants. Compared to that what we're dealing with now is mickey mouse.

was MASSIVE........ but maybe it was just like some normal flu. huge number of cases, lowish death rate. but it killed alot of people.

i don't understand the contrast of this with swine flu. but i am willing to defer to CDC, WHO, NHI etc. on this...... they claim this is a massive emergency. that's good enough for me.

Numbers in Italy are scary. They are at about a 7% rate for death. THey've been in a total countrywide quarantine and yet their numbers have still gone up about 8000 people in the last two days. People are still only just now showing symptoms.

It's still going to get a lot worse in the USA for us.
