Truth. It's available OTC now, no excuses.

Once I cut carbs out, my reflux episodes went down a lot. Worth a try.

It's your esophageal sphincter. You're esophagus isn't one big glass tube, it has muscles all the way down. The one that lets the food into the stomach is the esophageal sphincter. Caffeine, alcohol, and nicotine supposedly relax it too much, allowing acid from the stomach to come up into your chest like that. Nexium and drugs like that stop the little pumps in your stomach from producing so much acid, which makes it not come up as easy.

At least this is what a doctor told me. Turns out I just digested carbs really fukking poorly, and it was causing most of my misery. Seriously, cut out carbs for like 3 days, just to see if it's that. If not, fine, but you'll save yourself the agony of dicking around with a bunch of other solutions that don't work as well like I did for ten years. I thought it was the beer, it was actually the breads and pizza dough I was having with it. I thought it was the acidic spaghetti sauce, it turned out to be the spaghetti itself. I woke up every day with a bowl of carb-ridden cereal, completely setting up my entire day for constant reflux, and it took me so long to figure this out.

And if all else fails, Nexium is still the way to go.

Yeah i read on that, but thats also linked to chest pain heartburn. Part of stomach moves up or something.
It could be H pylori infection, as it happend suddenly.
