Wow, that line has moved a lot.

Good luck, pal, hope you hit it.

I took the under on the Man City game, already hit it, wish you could bet multiple per day like you can in SFTC.

I took some soccer game under 3.

I'll probably take best value and sell it unless there is something cool I want. I don't really give a shit about a watch or laptop. I'll post the e-mail when they send it to me.

Anybody got a speculation on the current bottom for bitcoin? Wanting to add on to my position, but the price keeps improving everyday. Hate to buy in at $450 if its going to hit $200.

    $400 will be heavy resistance.

I think what triggered this sell off is the Ethereum launch of a couple of weeks ago.
They got A LOT of BTC and now they want to turn that into cash.

If they are smart -- they will stop selling and wait for a rebound.

The problem is -- it triggered a sell off with others.

That's the same rumor I'm seeing everywhere too, but the same guys were saying it wouldn't drop below $500 because all the hoarders would buy it up.

That's the problem with bitcoin news, is so much of it is clouded by people who are as passionate about it as gun nuts. It could hit $10 and they'd still have some reason why it'll be $1000 again by December.

I remember you mentioning you are a successful poker player.

I'm playing no-limit at Atlantic City tomorrow for the first time. Any tips if I play 2/5? I'm assuming the strategy would be to play tight considering how many players will probably want a ton of action and play bad hands.

Are you saying its your first time playing live? First time playing in AC or first time playing 2-5? Are you rolled for 2-5? No shame in starting out at 1-2.

I'm a mixed game specialist, so I don't play very much NL. Generally in live big bet games I think the best strategy is to play tight, but give the illusion of action. Be a table-talker, make a big point out of your raises, be aware of your image, not necessarily your table image but your image to each individual player.

But again, I have no idea what the current state of 2-5 NL games are in AC or anywhere else, you can probably just peddle the nuts and do fine.

Sounds like a good strategy, if you know who's going to win why wouldn't you bet on him? That's why I bet $40000 to win $100 on Gravity winning best VFX last year.

First time playing live poker. Played a little online before DOJ but wasnt very successful.

Do you still play online? Ive enjoyed playing home games but have never invested the time to become somewhat of a profitable player online.

Is it worth to even become a student of the game even during this current state of online poker. Is/Will there be an edge playing online?

Yeah, I still play online, there aren't really any big games anymore, and no site has much volume, so generally I am playing 8-12 tables across 3-4 sites.

If you're just learning how to play, online would be very frustrating, there's certainly easier money doing a lot of other things.

The days of easy games and good bonuses and rakeback are certainly over. Average pot in a 1-2 NL game online now is like $20, live is much much softer. I generally only play live during major tournaments, I travel to most of the majors, although less than I used to.

Sorry for grilling you. One more question and I'll be out of your hair.

I would like to make some extra income on the side once I get out of school. What are those other easy methods of making money? It seems you have success with non-MMA handicapping. Is that one of your better sources of income? I remember reading that your success rate in non-MMA bets is somewhere around 80%. I know the type of betting you do that yields long-term success stems from an ability to find good market prices as opposed to a great knowledge in a specific sport. Is there books/statistic courses I can take to really learn that craft?

Shit, I miss absolute poker, scam site as though it was. I used to prop for them for a few years, got $0.27 per hand plus $.10 per hand in bottomless bonus money, plus whatever I made at the table.

The money was INSANE, but the sessions were so tilting, you had to wait at a table and you had to play anyone who sat down, even if they beat you every single day and called you names. If the game filled up you had to leave and start a new game. Four four hour sessions per week on their schedule plus any other hours you wanted. If you were winning it was great, but there's nothing worse than getting your teeth kicked in for an hour and realizing you have to play this guy for 3 more hours or until he quits you.

I probably should've played 60 hours a week, but I was pretty much a rage machine after every session.

    I don't mind.

That 80% quoted was ROI in entertainment bets, which are my specialty, those unfortunately only come around a couple times per year. Sports in general is my major income now, Football, MMA, and small markets are the majority of that, but I bet on everything. Then beyond that, I still play poker, some advantage casino play, and I buy and resell things as well.

I've mentioned in this thread several times the books you should read, but they won't teach you everything. A lot of it you've got to figure out yourself. I've written a book myself, but I haven't got it published, and not sure if I ever will, the market for it is pretty small, and it would give up a lot of the things that I'm doing that I don't see other people doing (or at least not talking about).

Honestly, I wouldn't recommend gambling for a living to anyone, I came up when poker and casino money was very easy and gradually learned how to do the harder stuff as the soft money dried up. Finding value in bonusing sequed into how to beat sportsbook bonuses into how to beat sportsbooks.

Best advice I can give to someone who wants to beat the books is realize you don't have to test your theories with money. You can backtest data, you can bet with playmoney until you're sure you've found an edge. So many people say, "I think this will work" and then pour money into it. Really they just want to gamble, and hope they'll win.
