Still though, I'd definitely prefer to have back the $100 for 5 were I given a choice.

Yee -0.5 is the same as the team to win ML if thts what u mean? So yee ud lose on draw. If u played the +0.5 though tht is same as double chance (win/draw) so youd win if it was a draw. I dont know why some books offer both ml and -0.5 when they are same thing before a game. but just have to be aware tht its different in live betting as -0.5 is asian handicap option (it is on Pinnacle anyway). For instance if belgium were 1-0 up at half time and u saw tht belgium -0.5 was -150 live on pinnacle tht would mean u are betting on belgium to win the second half (or from the existing score of 1-0)... Ive seen posts in soccer forum a few times where they didnt understand why their play had been graded as a loss when theyd bet the -0.5 live when the team was winning and score stayed the same!

thanks v. this is exactly why i was confused by it. usually the -0.5 spread is a couple cents better at 5d, but i couldn't figure out what would be the downside of taking the spread over the ML.
