What Should Horseracing Do With Jockey That Bet Against Himself

Sanchez a legit jockey too making a nice buck yearly
    Well respected

Beyond the issue that he gambled against himself is a deeper, more disturbing element, which is that he gambled at all.
In one ground-shaking development, a reported TVG account from which he gambled from in December being discovered by authorities, Sanchez betting on himself raised riveting issues:

    • How can he show such disrespect to a sport that has rewarded him for so many years?
    • How can the horse-racing industry, bolstered by the recent infusion of online gambling handle, the budding new age of fixed-odds wagering and the technological boost provided by cutting-edge companies, fight cancer from within?
    • What Sanchez revealed about danger to the gambling-racing dynamic is more damaging than his reported act.

how much did he stand to win if the other horse won against him

and how much did he stand to win if the horse he rode won?

I gotta think he would have won way more with his % of the purse right?

My wife doesn't allow me to gamble on animals so I don't play the ponies but, isn't this Snachez dude riding on the favorite allot of the time, and isn't the jockey a large draw in terms of betting on a horse or not? Sounds to me like he was shaving off the top with riding the favorite in situations he thought the longer shot horse had a pretty good chance against him and maybe just maybe didn't perform at this best while doing the jockey thing. I hear the Jockey thing is a little bit of a black box art so who really knows when the jockey is sand bagging it.

A suspension is a joke, they will have to toss this dude out. He should be riding camels in the Baghdad invitational.

wasnt he just putting a bunch of random horses in pic 3s and stuff? sort of out of control number gambling action wagering. account totals pretty small at the ADW. not sure this is much to worry about, hes suspended from a bunch of tracks and will get treatment.

thought I saw he won like 37 bucks on one race and 27 bucks on another. Meanwhile he won a decent % of races he bet on

    weird

did they get this sentence backwards? why would it be disturbing if he bet on himself? sports would be much better and more exciting if pro coaches/athletes all had to bet their salaries each game on the moneyline for their team to win.

What, horse races can be fixed? Who would have ever thought of that being possible?

Not only jockeys can fix a race.. Got juice?

Used to know a minority stakes race owner.
He's told stories on the tricks trainers do.

For starters owners 'they take turns'
By that I mean the talks turn to 'who's turn to cash this week'
Not the big races, but the small time allowance races and claimers and such.

Another story I remember, if a good horseman was running bad and the stable fees were due, other owners will 'let' his horse cash in race to help pay the bills.

    It happens.

Like I said I wasn't there so it's second hand news.
I wouldn't put it past them.

This is Monmouth Park we're talking about so those stories seem a little more real.
What do they say about Monmouth? "
That track is screwed on crooked"

Same with college referees. no doubt in my mind that some of those conference crews are betting the sides and totals, in games they are refereeing

Horse racing is a dying sport. Millenials and younger don't care about it. When the baby boomers all die the racetracks will go under.
