Bernie really needs to spit out some numbers in the next debate to prove himself IMO. I've looked at some of his detailed plans and they are well reviewed so I'm not sure why he refuses to engage Hilary with the numbers when she's daring him to. Looking like Nevada is a toss up but Hilary starting to gain some traction after it opened -110 apiece

I did some reading on Bernie's background a few days ago. Makes me really not want the guy in the White House after doing so. His campaign and Wiki pages have been cleverly crafted to make it all seem normal for how he has made it through his life but now old neighbors, friends, and others have been interviewed by media as all big level politicians have done I suppose when they try to get the Presidency.

He basically never held a job until he was nearly 40 years old! He married one girl back in the day, she divorced him after a year because they were broke and he refused too work 'for rich people'. The guy couldn't even afford to keep his power bill paid on several accounts and his only attempt at working to eat one year was carpentry. He claims he worked 'as a carpenter' but to hear people who knew him talk, he basically was given a job to try it and failed miserably, couldn't even hammer a straight nail in so he was fired and moved on back to activist activities and freeloading.

This isn't a guy I want in charge of things. I'm no fan of Mrs Clinton but I'm going to quietly start rooting for her to get the nod on that side and hopefully lose to Trump at this point.

Here is one of the notable articles on his past. Looking at him as a whole, his only value in life came from an inheritance from his father that he used to buy the little shack for his wife who eventually left him because he wasn't going to pursue work to maintain it. It's sort of odd how the campaign only mentions Bernard as 'the long time mayor in Burlington' and then Senator but paints over his entire life from teen to late 30's, then we find out how the guy supported himself and its scary. Just not the character of a person I want to vote for, personal opinion. Those who choose otherwise are entitled to it but I just hope this doesn't hurt us all in the long run.

Bernie Sanders a Bum Who Didn’t Earn His First Steady Paycheck Until Age 40 Then Wormed His Way Into Politics

    What a shock.

Bernie Sanders was a bum who didn’t earn a steady paycheck until he was 40 years old. He was a slob who lived in a shack with a dirt floor. He later wrote about masturbation and rape for left-wing rags for $50 a story. The Socialist then wormed his way into politics.

Bernie had his electricity cut off a lot so he’d run an extension cord down to the basement. He couldn’t pay his bills.

And today he’s running for president so he can take your money and redistribute it.
    Investor’s Business Daily reported:

Sanders spent most of his life as an angry radical and agitator who never accomplished much of anything. And yet now he thinks he deserves the power to run your life and your finances — “We will raise taxes;” he confirmed Monday, “yes, we will.”

One of his first jobs was registering people for food stamps, and it was all downhill from there.
Sanders took his first bride to live in a maple sugar shack with a dirt floor, and she soon left him. Penniless, he went on unemployment. Then he had a child out of wedlock. Desperate, he tried carpentry but could barely sink a nail. “He was a shi**y carpenter,” a friend told Politico Magazine. “His carpentry was not going to support him, and didn’t.”

Then he tried his hand freelancing for leftist rags, writing about “masturbation and rape” and other crudities for $50 a story. He drove around in a rusted-out, Bondo-covered VW bug with no working windshield wipers. Friends said he was “always poor” and his “electricity was turned off a lot.” They described him as a slob who kept a messy apartment — and this is what his friends had to say about him.
The only thing he was good at was talking … non-stop … about socialism and how the rich were ripping everybody off. “The whole quality of life in America is based on greed,” the bitter layabout said. “I believe in the redistribution of wealth in this nation.”

So he tried politics, starting his own socialist party. Four times he ran for Vermont public office, and four times he lost — badly. He never attracted more than single-digit support — even in the People’s Republic of Vermont. In his 1971 bid for U.S. Senate, the local press said the 30-year-old “Sanders describes himself as a carpenter who has worked with ‘disturbed children.’ ” In other words, a real winner.
He finally wormed his way into the Senate in 2006, where he still ranks as one of the poorest members of Congress. Save for a municipal pension, Sanders lists no assets in his name. All the assets provided in his financial disclosure form are his second wife’s. He does, however, have as much as $65,000 in credit-card debt.

Sure, Sanders may not be a hypocrite, but this is nothing to brag about. His worthless background contrasts sharply with the successful careers of other “outsiders” in the race for the White House, including a billionaire developer, a world-renowned neurosurgeon and a Fortune 500 CEO.

The choice in this election is shaping up to be a very clear one. It will likely boil down to a battle between those who create and produce wealth, and those who take it and redistribute it.

Left-Leaning Economists Question Cost of Bernie Sanders’s Plans
    By JACKIE CALMESFEB. 15, 2016

WASHINGTON — With his expansive plans to increase the size and role of government, Senator Bernie Sanders has provoked a debate not only with his Democratic rival for president, Hillary Clinton, but also with liberal-leaning economists who share his goals but question his numbers and political realism.

The reviews of some of these economists, especially on Mr. Sanders’s health care plans, suggest that Mrs. Clinton could have been too conservative in their debate last week when she said his agenda in total would increase the size of the federal government by 40 percent. That level would surpass any government expansion since the buildup in World War II.

The increase could exceed 50 percent, some experts suggest, based on an analysis by a respected health economist that Mr. Sanders’s single-payer health plan could cost twice what the senator, who represents Vermont, asserts, and on critics’ belief that his economic assumptions are overly optimistic.

the rest of the story is at the link.

Sanders polices are not much different than those of Eisenhower, a moderate Republican. The country has just moved far to right since then. You say raise Tax's & half the country loses their mind.

Polls show that more than half the country is in favor of raising tax's on those that can afford it. In fact there was a study done, that if we used FDR's tax plan we could pay off a good part of the debt.

If one of the Republicans or Hillary gets in, it could cost us more in fighting wars than what Sanders is proposing. Were is that money going to come from?
Well they won't raise tax's on the rich, so they will borrow the money from the rich. Now if your a rich guy, would you rather lend the money to the government & collect interest. Or would you like to just pay the tax's you should be paying anyway. Think about it.

If we went back to Eisenhower's policies we would have to dramatically cut the size of government, his 1960 budget wasn't even 1 trillion in inflation adjusted dollars.

1 Trillion is what we spend on the military industrial complex a year. But we don't have money for healthcare. Now wonder IKE was trying to warn us.

I agree we should drastically cut defense, but the purpose of that article is that even left wing economists, who share Sanders' goals, say his plans are unrealistic.
