I can't imagine the coaching staff would have even addressed the issue of playing time yet

maybe vegas has some inside info that the Bengals wanna let the Jets win, to ensure they don't have to see pittsburgh for a third time. they have beat them twice. and its hard in the nfl to beat a team 3 times in one season

Not sure Bengals not really playing to great today. Scoring 17 against the chiefs today along with resting there starters vs the Jets. Really a meaningless game for the Bengals like it was for the Colts today. I could see the Jets winning by 10 or more pretty easy.

There is going to be some pretty screwed up lines this week. It will be something very strange to see.

Wow, that's a pretty weird opening line considering we don't know what Cincy is going to do...

Isn't it fairly obvious? It's a playoff game for the Jets, a bye week for the Bengals.

Must be your rookie year as an NFL handicapper. This is standard week 17 NFL.

It isn't hard to beat a team 3 times in one season. This myth has been thoroughly debunked.

Even so, I think Cincy still would prefer to play a team like the Jets in the playoffs rather than the battle tested Steelers or Ravens.

my thinking is myth or no myth, the Bengals BELIEVE in the myth, and would rather not face a fired up steelers again in the playoffs. although I do think the jets could be more dangerous with their defense

why does everyone think this is so odd? didn't anyone see the scoreboard of the colts game? and that was only ONE HALF of sitting manning!! cincy isn't very good anyway...they needed to win this week and could only manage a last minute touchdown against a shitty kc team. These games are ones to stay away from or just use fun money on!

All the lines mentioned in this thread make sense. The "surprising" dogs are teams that have seeding wrapped up seeds and will sit their regulars, while the favorites need to win to get in.

Surprised that nobody has mentioned fact that Bengals would benefit by LOSING here, basically ensuring that all regulars will sit. By losing, Cincy gets a rematch with Jets in first round, meaning they will be facing a rookie QB and a team they just scouted in a must-win situation, only this time, game would be at home.

Yeah, I know. Seriously, I don't like the way the Bengals are playing. Even if the NFL somehow snuck the Raiders or Browns in there to play the Bengals for the first round of the playoffs, I wouldn't be optimistic about the Bengals winning.
