    Capitals lost a key piece on the Second line and PP in Mike Ribeiro...I understand they acquired Grabovski...but it is yet to be seen if he will be a serviceable second line center...he took a HUGE step back last season and not to mention didn't look great in the pre-season. Brooks Laich remains questionable and if he is back on the ice he certainly won't be 100%. Caps have never been a GREAT road team and seem to always falter in the spotlight. I think that the United Center is going to be rocking tonight as the Hawks see that championship banner raised. The Hawks are going to be playing with some serious intensity in their nationally televised game home opener as they look to start out just how they left off...can't see the Caps stealing this one.

    Funky stat - 13 out of the last 32 champs have lost the opener....roughly 41%...definitely more telling than the crazy 4/5 stat that has been getting thrown around here.

    Valid on Ribiero, look forward to him being a Yote. Brooks is probable last I saw. Hossa spent all offseason rehabing after surgery, then got hurt at the start of training camp. 2/3 of the Hawks 2nd line is banged up. Crawford owed a lot of his success to the defensive style amd scheme that the Blackhawks play. That takes a while to get in sync. I think Holtby is a better stand alone goalie than Crawford. Caps are better at home, but this play is all about value. BOL

    I cant disagree with that analysis sir....Crawford has always had those humongous pads also...the new rule might hurt him the most. Washington's defense is spotty...alzner is really the only one who is a good defender, green can score, especially on the PP...but he is a god awful defender lol. Chicago's defense is absolutely sick..

    Also kind of weird but...Ovechkin and Grabovski are both known for tucking in their jersey's while they play...with the new rules they are no longer able to do that.....this may be minutia but I could see that affecting their performance early on in the season. Last 5 meetings between the two teams...home team has won 4.
