Sometimes teams don't show up, score 5 points in an entire quarter, and lose by 40.

Other times, the spread or total comes down to some really questionable play in the final 10 seconds in a game that is already decided.

I mean, if I have a team -4 and the other team hits a three at the buzzer and I lose by 1, I lose. But when the team calls a timeout with 1.5 seconds left, advances the ball to mid court, and draws up a play for an uncontested layup, it kind of pisses me off. Why all that effort to still lose by 2?

I was on the right side last night with the uncontested layup at the end of the game but not tonight. I mean, you're down 22 and you give it 100% to go the length of the court for a lay up. 99% of the time the teams lazily dribble up court and jack a three pointer. Hell, the exact same situation happened when I had an over total in the Heat game earlier in the year and Wade literally walked the ball to mid-court and then took a half court shot off one leg. That really pissed me off because he rebounded the ball with like 9 seconds left. Of course that scenario happened after Dallas missed like three consecutive layups..ended up missing the total by 1.

Anyway No Coin, this happens every night. We have this exact same discussion and we've been doing it for like two years.

I'm talking about times when the Pistons are down 7 points with 4 second left, the spread is 8, and Darco sprints 30 feet to foul the other team with like 1.1 second left, they hit two free throws, I lose a bet that was covering the entire night.

I'm talking about timeouts to set up layups when the game is already decided.

I have won on some BS like this before and I even point it out when it happens.

What boggles my mind, is how the total of virtually every quarter, half and game I bet it seems comes down to the last possession/shot/tenth of a second. You set a number, turn 10 guys loose on a basketball court, what are the chances that the win or loss will come down to the LAST second?

Our government, politicians, law enforcement, police, courts, casinos, society, etc. is corrupt, so surely you're not naive enough to think that the NBA is pure as a driven snow, are you? There is no way I can believe that what we refer to as pro sports, isn't corrupt as well. If you think that they're turning 10 highly paid, talented, and trained hungry professionals loose on the court to do honorable battle, you're dreaming.

If the NBA was pure, and say last place teams would never beat first place teams, and outcomes would be exacly as we 'cap them which is what the outcome is suppose to be, guess what? There would be no betting on the NBA, and we'd really see PURE basketball with ALL 10 guys, for ALL 48 minutes, playing like someone is paying them tens of thousands of dollars to play professionally, and NOT perform. Because, the NBA is a performance, so hope you enjoy the show.

Basically, to summarize, gamble on meaningless NBA theatre, at your own peril.

obviously that shit happens but games in general are not rigged, they can be rigged in case of a blowout or in case of a meaningless bucket like you say. guys still have to knock down shots. they have to rebound. they're not robots. nba playoffs are not rigged at all. the reg season games are rigged sometimes, it's always been like that. That's why you see teams get swept in the playoffs every single year. You really think that if everything was rigged Stern would allow any sweeps? No.

Easy to rig an NBA game. Easiest sport out of all of them.

Baseball? The only way they can rig a baseball game is an O/U. HP umpire widens a strike zone if he wants an under. Makes the strike zone tight as nuts if he wants an over.

Hockey? Same thing for o/u. Ref calls numerous penalties for power play opportunities... maybe even a 5-3 for an over. And... the ref doesn't call anything for an under.... just hoping they skate even strength with few chances.

But the NBA is rigged. You just have to be on the right side.
