LV, horrific crimes are horrific crimes. But the law does punish crimes that are racially motivated more harshly. Maybe it is wrong to do so since the result of a horrific crime is the same either way. You'd have to ask the people who thought it was necessary to punish hate crimes worse than 'non-hate' crimes.
