While I agree that many universities are football programs with teaching side gigs, the big ten is a different beast. I think other conferences/programs have greater risk. Big Ten will hammer the other sports mostly and long term weaken enrollment. Michigan and Ohio State aren’t closing though. If Michigan State didn’t go down for their abuse scandals they will survive this.

Endowment numbers per student/university makes it the strongest financial conference outside of Ivy League. Either way, I totally get your point... and donations and contributions will significantly go down if you are trying to get people back for Men’s Rowing over Football. They shouldn’t have cancelled outright. Should have kept moving the goal posts (no pun intended).
