Listen up, basketball experts. Starting Friday (Feb 1) we will commence with the February Hoops Parlay Contest with the monthly grand prize a 22” widescreen LCD monitor. The rules are simple:

1. Check in the NBA BASKETBALL HANDICAPPING FORUM each day for the daily thread to be posted by LT Profits. Lines will be posted by 1:00 p.m. (ET) each day. Plays may be posted before that, but the official posted lines will be used for grading.

2. Posted spreads and totals are the only eligible plays for grading. Both NBA and NCAA games included.

3. Two-game parlay picks, laying 10 to win 26. Post entire parlay at same time, no open parlays.

4. Here’s the catch: Your play must include a write-up, doesn’t have to be long, just a sentence or two about why you’re making your play. Here’s a THREAD from last year’s contest to be used for an example.

5. Entries that are past-post or do not have analysis for both games will be NO ACTION. Once your two-team parlay has been posted, you CANNOT change either play. Any edited post will count as a LOSS! If you make a mistake (such as leaving out "Over" or "Under" or not clearly stating your selection), need to add analysis or wish to enter corrected lines, do so in a seperate post. This holds true even if the first game on the schedule did not tip off yet. It also holds true for past-posts and entries with no analysis. It does NOT hold true for posts that are not parlay selections, i.e. standings, commentary posts or congratulatory posts.

6. And here’s the fine print:

• Must be 18 years of age or older to participate.
  
• One entry per household and IP address.
  
• Must use lines posted in daily thread by LT Profits
  
• Maximum one parlay pick per day, minimum 15 parlay plays needed to be eligible for monthly prize.
  
• Tiebreaker - Win % of individual parlay legs. If still tied, combatants will carry on a head-to-head parlay match until winner determined.
  
• All decisions made by SBR with regards to this contest are final.
  
• SBR employees eligible to participate but are not eligible to win the monthly prize.

Loyola -MD/Canisius OVER 136.5 I actually got 136 and hoping this .5 point isn't going to kill me. These two teams have played over 6 vs 2 unders in their last 8 match ups. Both teams haven't played many high scoring games but when they get together they shoot the lights out.

Now to find another game as the line moved to much for my other play which was fairfield/niagara under 139. So let's go with

North Carolina -9.5 #4 NC is just so much better a team. That and FSU is 1 and 11 ATS in their last 12. I just don't see them keeping this one close unless their defense really steps up. Last game was a 15 point game with NC covering -11.5.

With the Duke game coming up next I see NC to build a big lead early and then slow down to allow starters to rest. Florida State isn't an up tempo team anyway and the game will stay under.

Niagara over 137.5

After allowing 88 points to Canisius a week ago I see Niagara scoring 100 today against a Fairfield team that doesn't play defense.

Niagara -11: Niagara's last game was against Fairfield, a game played at Fairfield, and Niagara won 73-61, which still covered this spread. Niagara should come out stronger this game. Prediction: 77-60.

Wisconsin/MN Over 129: Minnesota's game's have been going over lately, 5 of the last 6. I'm aware that Wisconsin has great defense and usually posts totals under 125. This game seems fishy that Wisconsin is only favored by 2, instead of going with Wisconsin, I'm going to hope for a close one, and perhaps OT. Prediction: 68-66 someone.

EASTERN WASHINGTON +3.5: Eastern Washington is 6-4 SU at home while outscoring opponents by +2.4 points per game. Montana is just 3-7 SU on the road, and home teams are 7-1 last eight head-to-head meetings. Also, Montana is a disgusting 9-26 ATS as a favorite!

MONTANA/EASTERN WASHINGTON UNDER 129: The Under is 7-3 in the last 10 Eastern Washington home games and 27-13 at home the last three years, and Under is also 8-3 in the last 11 head-to-head meetings.
