SBR will give the winner of the March Basketball Parlay of the Day Contest a sparkling new 19-inch LCD DVI Monitor! For those of you unfamiliar with the contest, here are the rules:


Post your 2 best basketball plays each day, NBA and CBB full-game Sides & Totals allowed only, no halves. Same game Side/Total parlays are ok. You have until five minutes before tip time of your first game to post the selections. Also note that all plays will now be graded against a uniform line! I will post the lines from Pinnacle at approximately 11 AM ET each day. Those of you wishing to make selections before then may do so without posting your lines, and they will be graded against my posted lines.

All parlays will be graded as 10.00 to win 26.00, and I will keep two sets of standings: the Official Standings will be based on parlay units won/lost, and the secondary standings will be on a game-by-game basis ranked by winning percentage.

The Catch: You must have SOME ANALYSIS for each play. Only needs to be one sentence, no big deal, although full paragraphs are ok too. Plays submitted with no analysis will NOT COUNT toward standings.

The player with the most units won after the games of March 31 will win the winner-take-all grand prize. Note that you must play at least 15 days (30 plays) during the month to qualify for the prize! In case of a tie in units, the tiebreaker will be the better winning percentage. If still tied, the contest will be extended with the tied players making one parlay selection per day at the start of April until the tie is broken. NO PASSES will be allowed during this extension period, and any of the tied players doing so will be eliminated regardless of the other player(s) results for that day.

Will be decided by win % of individual parlay legs. 2nd tiebreaker is based on additional daily parlays until one person breaks tie.

SBR will pick a DVI LCD monitor that is features on this page when winner is decided.

I think the Bruins defense will prove too tough for the Panthers tonight... The winner of this game will be the first to 50 points more than likely... It's touchy to go with this line because I can see this being a really close game... However, I think Pitt is soft and they showed that by almost blowing their last game against VCU... We will roll with the Bruins to cover the small line!

Bulls -3
The Nuggets have been playin pretty good ball in their last few games and I think they are being overvalued here... The Bulls are SOLID at the United Center and we will roll with them to cover the small spread tonight at home as well...

Texas A&M -3½ vs Memphis
A homer pick, pure and simple. Would've loved to have played this a point or so lower where it opened, but I'll just live, or die, with this line. Gig 'em, Aggies! Beat the hell outta Memphis!

Tennessee +5 vs Ohio State
One of the 1-seeds is going down in the next 24 hours or so, and it might as well be Ohowihateohio State. Plus it will set up an A&M-UT match on Saturday, and Aggies are familiar playing orange-clad UT squads.

Texas A&M -3.5 This is a very solid and impressive team. No statistical capping here, I just think this is the better all around team that will control the tempo and show Memphis who's boss.

S Illinois +9 I bet the 1H of this game for real because I think Salukis keep it close in the first half. I think they will likely cover for the game also but I worry about what might happen in garbage time. Either way, 9 points is too much to lay on Kansas against a very talented but underrated team

INDY gave HOU fits last night........firing on all cylinders the PISTONS will give them a Hm loss.
DET 6-0 ATS last 6 vs HOU, 2 games being @HOU where DET went SU. Last meet @Hm DET smoked HOU by 12.....DET has been ATS terror on the rd, don't think HOU home ct is worth like 14.5 pts. DET should beat those mofos down.....better team starting off up by 2!

NUGGS running a better program right now than that of the downsliding BULLS, & CHI may still be dazed & confused by the LAC loss @Hm. NUGGS good record over last 3 seasons vs Cent div opponents, 6-1 ATS this season alone....& 6-2 ATS as Rd Dog of 3pts or less.
NUGGS in non-conf games 16-10 vs BULLS 10-18.
Again....better team starting off up by 3!

Love A&M-3.5 but too many on this already.

ucla -3.5 pitt has to be better than the 3 games i have seen them cause they have looked absolutely horrible the 3 times i have seen them. taking ucla is a game that could look ugly on both sides

Houston -2: Detroit's been playing well and Chauncey is back tonight, but Houston should still win this game at home.

Southern Illinois +9: I like +5 first half much better, but they should be able to keep this one close for the whole game.

Memphis/Texas A&M Over 136: Total seems a little low for two teams capable of putting up a lot of points. With or without Douglas-Roberts, Memphis will try to run on A&M. Playing basically a home game, the Aggies should force some turnovers and score some easy baskets.

S. Illinois/Kansas Over 126.5: With all the press SIU's defense has been getting, I believe this total has been set too low. Sure, the Salukis have allowed only 56.5 ppg, but they have yet to face a team will the talent and athletic ability of the Jayhawks. If SIU hopes to keep this game close, they will have to score in the mid 60s, which I believe they are capable of.

Grizzlies+5 Taking the home dog against the lakers on a long layoff. Lakers are 1-5 ATS after three days off. Grizz playing the last game of a poor homestand.

Tenn+5 Tennessee will force their tempo on OSU and OSU will not be able to keep up. Plus I love the revenge spot for Tennessee. They know what it takes to play this team and should be able to pull out the win tonight.

New York Knicks -5.5: The New Yorkers are a scorching 13-5 against the spread in their last 18 home games, and they have now gone over .500 straight up at Madison Square Garden this year, at 18-16. The Knicks will also be anxious to redeem themselves after a rare poor home performance in a 92-77 loss to Dallas on Tuesday, and they may have found a nice opponent to do that against. New York is 8-3 ATS in the last 11 meetings with the Blazers, including 4-1 ATS in MSG. Portland is 11-21 straight up on the road while losing those games by an average of 7.1 points, which would not be good enough to cover this spot. Finally Portland is now 38-63 ATS vs. teams with losing records, and they are catching a Knicks team that has improved as the season has gone on.

Tennessee/Ohio State Under 144.5: The Buckeyes are only allowing 60.4 points per game on 39.7 percent shooting for the whole year, and the average combined total score in all Ohio State games of 134.3 points in more than 10 points less than this posted total. Now granted, the Volunteers love to run the court, but the Buckeyes usually do an excellent of playing games at their pace, especially when they are favored. In fact, the Under is now 44-22 the last 66 times that Oho State has turned up as a favorite. Also do not forget that this is a rematch of a regular season meeting back in January, when these teams combined for only 134 points in a narrow 68-66 Buckeye victory. We look for more of the same in here.

These two played a close one early this season. Tennessee is hitting on all cylinders right now, while OSU may have been exposed for what they are against Xavier. I don't know if the Vols can knock them off, but they'll give them a run for their money

Chicago -3

The Bulls are at home, and the Nuggets are due for a letdown.

Ohio State will run and gun and get every rebound against Tennessee. UTenn has a problem with large frontlines.

Calipari is coaching for the Kentucky job tonight. If he wins this one they will hold the job for him.

Tennessee/Ohio St under 144.5 - I think Ohio St will be able to dictate the pace, because they know that is what they will have to do to win. Whether the strategy works or not remains to be seen, but it's clear they'll be trying to stop Lofton and Tennessee's explosiveness, which should result in a game in the 130s as before.

Pitt +3.5 - This should be a gritty, down-to-the-wire game. Pitt has a height advantage and their guard play should be solid enough to keep up with UCLA's standouts. Pitt could win this one outright, and if they don't, it could easily go down to the last shot or free throw.
