If what the article says is true, then it is time to close Santa Anita. There will always be wild fires within a 50 mile radius of that track in October and/or November, when the Santa Ana winds blow. Nothing can be done to stop them. The Stronick Group wants to sell the property and make a huge killing in the Ridiculous California Real Estate Market. The Governor, a complete fool at best, wants to end all Horse Racing in the State. The article is highly questionable, and is misleading. The deaths at Del Mar were mostly due to a new Turf Sod that caused horses to break down. It had nothing to do with fires, especially those two that were relatively small in size, and were downwind from the track.
