probs not impt but the visitors have won all 3 winter classics so far.... scores have been 4-3, 2-1 and 6-4. Philly is hot on the road right now and I doubt this game will have any home advantage as there will be many neutral fans and being outdoors will have more stimulating effects than the noise the crowd will make. Another factor to consider will be the country of origin of many of the players. Obviously any Canadian players will have grown up on outdoor rinks where I doubt this is as popular in Europe (could be wrong) but I would think it's more of a Canadian thing and obviously an everyday activity for Canadian boys. I just looked at the rosters and both sides are majority Canadian/North American. Boston has 3 Czechs and a German while Philly only has 2 Finns.

I think playing the O/U might be the most valuable play. Obviously the ice won't be as good and the visibility from a goalie's perspective is different as there isn't the usual background. A goalie may feel uncomfortable on a different type of ice and since conditions could be wet this will impact as well.

With all this talk I think I'll take Philly at +125 and the Over at +114.

dear god please don't post when you don't know what you're talking about. Books have rules and in 99% of books at least 55 minutes of a game must be played or else all full-game wagers are returned. So before you start spitting nonsense you gotta learn the rules.

and one last point if you think the refs will stop it after 40 minutes.... this game will bring in the most revenue from an nhl game (minus the playoffs) and if the refs end it after 40 it will screw up nbc's commerial rotation... you think the refs won't be talked to beforehand? speaking of cant pick his ass: the flyers were +110 last out vs the rangers. does 6-0 ring a bell? plus the fact that last time in beantown(2.5 weeks ago) the broad st. bullies were +125 and well, we all know how that one ended, right?....nuff said.

should we check out the 4-1 vs the bruins in their last 5 meetings? how about the 5-1 vs boston in b-ville?(granted this isnt exactly a home game for the bruins and a lot of other factors will figure into this game)

im hoping for a flyers victory but praying for asham to knock lucics block off. i see his ankles still in question so i wont get my hopes up. a cote/thorton tilt would be nice. very doubtful but we can always hope the fightless winter classic comes to an end.
