How long do they typically last? I see people with badges from a tourney three weeks ago, but mine from the 18th is already gone? Yeah I know it doesn't mean shit, but I never did understand how it works.

they all have different expiration dates. Some like the ones given to posters that signed up in 2005 will never expire

The more impressive the longer they last.
For example a poker tourney winner badge stays for longer than a 12th place min-cash.
