Seattle Mariners (35-54) at Oakland Athletics (47-42)
    (R) Carlos Silva (4-10) vs. (R) Justin Duchscherer (9-5)
The struggling Mariners are a horrible 35-54 this season, the worst record in the American League, but have been successful versus Oakland. They have won ten of the last 12 meetings, including Monday's 4-3 defeat against the A's in the opener at McAfee Coliseum.

Seattle's Carlos Silva (4-10, 5.85) is 1-10 with a 7.02 ERA in his last 14 games and is 4-2 with a 2.92 ERA in 10 outings, including nine starts against the Athletics. Seattle has lost eight of Silva's last 9 starts.

Oakland's Justin Duchscherer (9-5, 1.96 ERA) is 5-1 with a 1.62 ERA in his last six starts, but is 0-5 with a 4.17 ERA in 30 career appearances, including three starts against the Mariners. Oakland is 5-1 in Duchscherer's last 6 starts.

Seattle is 5-2 in its last 7 road games and 8-1 in its last nine in Oakland. Nevertheless, Seattle’s right-hander Carlos Silva has struggle, 1-2 with a 6.19 ERA in his last three starts and just one victory in his last 15 starts. The Mariners are 1-4 in his last 5 on the road. Contrary, Oakland's Justin Duchscherer has pitched outstanding. The right-hander’s 2-1 with a 1.59 ERA in his last three starts and Oakland has won six of the right-hander’s last 7 starts at home.

Take the A’s with Duchscherer on the hill.

OAKLAND/ Seattle Under 8: The Under is 10-1-2 in Mariners last 13 road games vs. a team with a winning record and 10-4-1 in Mariners last 15 games following a loss, while the Under is 22-8-4 in Athletics last 34 games vs. a starter with a WHIP greater than 1.30 and 7-1 in Athletics last 8 games vs. a right-handed starter. Justin Duchscherer has had a fine season for the A's this year, posting a 1.96 ERA overall, including a very sweet 1.46 ERA at home and a 1.73 ERA at night and a 1.54 ERA in his last 8 starts. Justin doesn't allow that many baserunners as he allows a .258 OBP and has a 0.92 WHIP in his starts overall, including allowing an OBP of .227 and a WHIP of just 0.77 in his home starts. Justin's home starts average just 7.2 rpg, while his last 3 starts have averaged just 4.7 rpg. Seattle comes in having scored just 3.7 rpg in their last 7 games and they average just 3.9 rpg vs righty starters, plus they have scored just 13 total in their last 4 meeting with the A's. Oakland's offense has not set the world on nfire this year as they have scored just 4.2 rpg at home, 4.1 rpg at night and 3.6 rpg in their last 7 games. The A's have also scored just 3 rpg vs Seattle this year, while not scoring more than 4 runs in any of those games. Carlos Silva has struggled for the M's this year, but I don't feel like the A's anemic offense can score that much off him, especially since he has a career 3.02 ERA vs them, whille I look for Justin to allow 2 runs or less in this one, just like he has in his last 8 starts. This should be an easy Under.
