    Play for May 19

The only line that really jumps out at me today is Detroit. Verlander is on the mound against an over valued Oakland team. Oakland has a home record of 15-7, but they're 10-2 against Seattle, Baltimore and Cleveland so I don't put too much stock in that.

Verlander has been great in his last 4 starts, so I hope it continues today. Braden has been good for Oakland, but I think the Detroit offense will outscore them today. My point is, I'm pretty sure the same matchup a month from now wouldn't have the same price on Verlander.

    Detroit -119

    I agree but...

Branden's numbers facing the Tigers http://espn.go.com/mlb/players/bvsp?playerId=28749
The only cautionary sign I see is The Tigers Pen - 14 innings in the last three games. Oh, and Braden pitched a perfect game two outings prior against the Rays...that makes me say no thanks I'll pass.

    Verlander's numbers facing a few of the A's http://espn.go.com/mlb/players/bvsp?playerId=6341

Braden is 2-2 with a 7.34 ERA in six career starts against the Tigers, but he held Detroit to one run in seven innings of a 5-1 home win in the most recent meeting July 1. He's 3-1 with a 2.00 ERA in five home starts this year.

I also like the fact that Oakland has scored more then 4 runs for Braden only one time this season.

You do make a great point that Oakland has faced some shrug off teams like Balt, Cleve, and Seattle. Verlander was superb against the Yankees at home in his last start....now I'm teetering on the edge of putting something down on Detroit. They've been good to me the whole year.
