    MexicanStallion's MLB Thread

    2011 Prop Bets
Cincinnati Reds Over 85.5 Wins (-110)
    5.50 to win 5.00
    Cincinnati Reds NL Central (+235)
    2.00 to win 4.70

First, Yes I am a huge Cincinnati Reds fan. Second, I claimed last season would be a big year for The Reds and they went on to win the NL Central. I bet them every game and made a great profit because they were under the radar for most of the season while everybody was believing in St. Louis. This year I think the Reds should be favorites to win the Central instead of Milwaukee or St.Louis. The Reds are bringing back their entire team for the most part. They replace Aaron Harang with young pitching talent and get an upgrade at defense with Janish getting a bigger bulk of playing time at SS. The bullpen will be a strength once again as well as their defense. They had 3 gold glove winners last year and realistically could have had 4 with Jay Bruce. I am looking at Cincinnati to continue on being a strong team and can see 92 Wins. I think they will need that to win the Central. So with a few games cushion I love the Over Wins and really like them to repeat and win the Central. Follow, Fade, or Watch. It's going to be a long season.

Very awesome. Thank you sir. The Reds have depth, but can't afford to lose their super stars to any length.

their pitching rotation is underrated...wouldn't be surprised to see them repeat as long as votto can go 30/100/.300 and if stubbs can raise that average 10 to 15 pts...LETS GO METS!

I think their unfamiliar names are underrated. I am hopeful Arroyo can match last season's numbers, but I don't know. It might have been a career year to bank on a contract. I am not a Volquez fan at all and wish Hamilton was still with The Reds. He needs to throw strikes and he can be effective. I think Wood is the next up and coming pitcher though. He looked great last year and I think he can step it up. I think Cueto can get better as long as he doesn't miss too much time. Leake was solid, but poorly used last year, because they were worried about his innings. It's a big year for Homer Bailey too with him being out of options. He is still young despite being around for a few years. I think he can make positive strides this season.

Why is Chapman not a starter ????

Love the lineup, Starting Pitching worries me, Volquez and Cueto have great upside, but who knows, Cueto hurt now, Arroyo battling Mono, Bailey is a bust, lets face it, I do like Wood, its a tough division, Cards will be good, Brew Crew should be good, Cubs improved

Just think If Chapman was a starter they would be much better off

I would agree. I love the lineup and they started to hit well the past two weeks going into the season. I'm not a big fan of Stubbs leading off, because he just struggles there. He is a much better hitter when he is down to 6th. They don't have a true lead offer hitter though, so will be juggling him, Phillips, and Bruce most likely. If Heisey is in the game, he would probably also get consideration.

I don't know about the upside with Volquez. I think what he did two seasons ago is his peak level. I just hope he can return to that. So far Spring was shaky with throwing strikes. I think Cueto would have upside as well. He took that next step last year. He only had 12 wins, but I believe they had 6-8 blown games behind him, so he could have had better numbers. I'm not ready to say Bailey is a bust, but this is the season to show something. He is only 24 years old which is young. The only issue is he hasn't pitched a full season for injuries or just not delivering and being demoted. He should only miss 1-2 starts, so after that he needs to get 30 starts this season and have some results.

I would agree that the division will be tough. That's why I think 90-92 wins would be plenty to win the division and I think Cincinnati will do just that. I think they have one of the strongest bullpens in baseball. Yes with Cordero at the back end. He's not a 1-2-3 inning pitcher, but he has got the job done. Only Brian Wilson has more saves in the NL the past three seasons since the Reds have had Cordero. I am happy with him.

Chapman was put into the bullpen last year to get him to the majors. It was the fastest way with the rotation pretty set. Same deal this year. The Reds have a ton of depth at pitching. Even with Cueto and Bailey starting on the DL, Leake and LeCure are very capable of filling in those sports for short term. They also have Maloney who will start out in the bullpen. Daryl Thompson is waiting in the minors being one of the last pieces of the Nationals trade from 2007. Bray is a big part of the team though, but Thompson has a little upside to him still. Next year Chapman will a starter though, because they didn't spend all that money for a middle reliever. He could potentially be a closer. Maybe something like Marmol. He will walk batters, but he can strike them out too. It is Cordero's last year and they gave out extensions to Votto, Bruce, Hanigan, and Cueto this off season. They have Phillips on an option year as well, so Cordero won't be back after this year. They need somebody to step up and take that closer role and Chapman could be it. He will close or start though next year, because he is getting paid decent money.
