The chart ranks teams oldest to youngest.

The 49ers had 33 of their own draft choices on their roster, tied with the Panthers and Colts for second-most in the league behind the Packers (37).

I dunno how much stock we can put into these averages. I mean, it really depends on the player.

If you look at this list, there are good teams and bad teams sprinkled up and down the list. There isn't really much correlation between average age and team strength. I guess there's a little bias towards lesser teams being towards the younger end because they're in rebuilding mode, but the Colts are sorta built like this anyway because Polian likes to build through the draft versus free agency, same with the Packers. It's like comparing the 3-4 versus 4-3 defense, either one can get it done, they are just different styles.

I think it's a little ironic that the Colts have such a young team, but have the oldest player to ever play in a Super Bowl on their team at age 42. (Matt Stover)
