The Boston Celtics have pulled further ahead of the field as the consensus favorites by the 2024 NBA championship odds from our best NBA betting sites as the Denver Nuggets were upset in Game 1 of their second-round series.

The Boston Celtics showed they could bleed once in the opening round, but that loss seemed to anger the consensus favorites. The Celtics rebounded from their lone loss to the Miami Heat with three straight wins to punch their ticket to the second round, where they'll face the Cleveland Cavaliers. That series is set to get underway on Tuesday.

The Denver Nuggets showed they could bleed in Game 1 of their second-round series against the Minnesota Timberwolves, and they did nothing to stem that in Game 2. That loss moved the Timberwolves into the second spot on the oddsboard, with the shortest odds in the Western Conference, and sent the Nuggets tumbling. Denver will face an uphill battle after losing both home games.

The Oklahoma City Thunder will take on the Dallas Mavericks after Luka Doncic and Co., who took down the Los Angeles Clippers in the opening round. The series tips off on Tuesday.

Who has the best odds to win the 2024 NBA championship?

Celtics (+110 via BetMGM)

We now know that the Celtics can lose, but they responded to that defeat as expected. Our best sports betting sites raised their odds only slightly to +140 following their opening-round Game 2 loss, and now they're slightly shorter again after rattling off three straight wins to secure their spot in the second round.

The Celtics were 27-14 on the road in the regular season compared to their stellar 37-4 home record. Next up is a best-of-seven against the Cavaliers.

Timberwolves (+320 via DraftKings)

The Timberwolves have vaulted to the second-shortest odds to win it all after jumping out to a 2-0 lead against the Nuggets in their second-round series. Denver entered the series as a heavy favorite to knock off Minnesota, but after losing both home games it faces an uphill battle to make it to the Western Conference final.

A lot of the T-Wolves' success has come from Anthony Edwards's play, who is considered a contender by the NBA Finals MVP odds. Edwards scored 43 points in the series opener and was tied for a team-high with 27 points in Game 2.

Mavericks (+1200 via bet365)

The Mavericks' NBA Championship odds shortened significantly across the board once the properly eliminated the Clippers. BetMGM and bet365 offer an outlier price in the market, and it's one interested bettors should be flocking to compared to the reduced +950 and +900 offerings elsewhere.

Dallas faces well-rested Oklahoma City in Round 2 without home-court advantage, and we have you covered with our Mavericks vs. Thunder player props for Tuesday's Game 1.

With the Celtics being a major favorite to win the NBA Finals, there's been little movement lately at our best sportsbooks. The Celtics' and Nuggets' odds are shortening, while the Minnesota Timberwolves have been the biggest risers on the oddsboard.
