    New to betting b-ball.
I will have a full extensive backtest posted this week. Thelimit did an abbreviated backtest based on adding a 1 unit bet to the already existing 7/5 system, that was how I initially set it up, and he said the test showed higher profits than just playing straight 7/5. The new 1-7-5 that I am testing is checking for some new criteria, and so far has looked more promising than my initial plan. The strategy I am testing is the way that I played it last season and did very well with it. I just want to make sure it is more profitable long term, rather then just the season I played and the few year test I had done. I currently have completed test back through 2007-08, with the exception of last season which I will do next. Also, there is one season that I tested last year that I want to double check on. But for now, thelimit has posted the abbreviated test somewhere on the last few pages. That looks good as well.

I'm very interested to see how the backtests without the 3.5 filter turn out. I believe in my very firsts tests of 7/5, before I starting testing filters, showed good results but was very volatile. My goal in the 7/5 was consistent results, which without the filters the 7/5 fell short of providing. One season it was beautiful, and then a few seasons would be negative. I didn't like that. In my original description I have the backtest of 7/5 without the filters and while the winning seasons won more units than with the filter, there were more losing seasons as well. Again, my goal was consistent profits season to season, so that is where my filter came from and it ended up boosting the total of the entire sample over the pre-filter results as well as turning negative seasons into positives. Throwing the A bets into the mix could change this, and I'm curious to see if it does, but regardless my filter is in place to provide more stability and I will probably continue to play it in that way.

I am aware of the closing line. However, I figured that those questions were going to come, and Atlanta's loss was the perfect example to put it out there. The system is not a play for the forum, but for me personally, I'm playing it.

OMac, if you think Philly was the play, you might wanna consider rereading the forum before you get slammed by a few people. According to the spreadsheet I made, from Wallco's post, the Warriors are the play...vs Philly.

What's this about Bulls and Heat?

    Re-read the forum?

Uh, no. I don't need to read other posts to formulate my own opinion. I was a big winner on this board during last year's NBA campaign.

If it means anything, my 76ers bet was the least of the three bets I made tonight. But I like them to get it within 6.

    Hi thelimit0310,
I've read through your system in post #184, and do have a question.

You wrote: " If the A bet loses however, it *MUST* lose by more than 3.5 points to the given spread to move on to the B/C level. If the A bet loses but by less than 3.5 points to the spread, you take your A bet loss and the series is over. Think of the A bet as essentially a flat bet, but also a qualifier game for the 7/5 system. If the A bet loses by more than 3.5 points to the spread, it qualifies the B bet. PUSHES DO NOT MEAN LOSSES. On the B bet, place your wager to win net 7 units (A bet loss + 7 units), again we are not buying points. If this bet wins, the series is over. If this bet loses we move to the C bet".

My question is if the A bet is loss more than 3.5 to given spread, the we move to B bet, but does B will will use the same filter (must loss more than 3.5 to given spread) as A bet in order the play to go to C? Or only use the filter on A going B?

    Thank you for your time.

I didn't buy the pts on ATL. So instead of chasing on them, I'm dividing the small loss from ATL into 2 parts. And hitching them onto the next 2 A bets. And as long as those 2 series win, I will recover the loss from ATL

No. The 3.5 filter only applies to the A bets. If the A bet loses by 3.5 points to the spread, we move on to B and if B loses to the base spread we move on to C.

Qucik question .... Buying 3.0 on the Hawks @ the Lakers woulda been a push with them as a 1 point fave . Does that constitute a pass on the B game and a discontinuation of Atlanta on this adjusted version of the traditional system ? Thanks in advance and best of luck tonight , thanks for posting the picks as always !

Atlanta was a one point dog, so with the 3 they WON the bet, not PUSH.

Thanks Wallco ... i just checked and found that i was looking at the open (atl -1.5) and it closed at a Pick'em , but regardless , its a cover with the three ... You always use scoresandodds for the lines correct ? Thanks again , I was about to put some $ on Atl assuming they pushed , Have a super evening !
