#282I'm just to sure about the Bulls guys. San Antonio is gonna be good. Manu is back and healthy, they added Richard Jefferson, and got DeJuan Blaire in the draft. Also, remember that Derrick Rose only played in the first preseason game and has sat out the rest with an ankle injury. The Bulls also said that his minutes tonight are going to be limited. Keep all that in mind.Comment -

#283I am on the Spurs Roag. Would overthink it twice if you really want to play the Bulls. This is no real back2back situation for the spurs as it was like a nice training yesterday. Tonight you will get to see the real strength of ste SA lineup. Which Bulls players do you see competing with the Spurs? This one could get ugly for Chicago. just my 2 cents.Comment -

#284I can't back the Spurs tonight. The Bulls are tough, and I think Rose will play his usual minutes. The Spurs looked good against a really really bad Hornets team. Duncan doesn't play much if at all on back to back games anymore and the Bulls will be pumped for this home opener.
I'm not going heavy on it, I just think the Bulls are a playoff team again this year and win this game.Comment -

#286Look, I know the Spurs are the play tonight, everyone and their grandmother is on them. But I'm a Roag Bettor, I can't bet against a good home team playing a team who played the night before. I don't care how much energy San Antonio expended last night, the fact is the Hornets suck and the Bulls are a young, aggressive team. Just the type of team that gives an old, creaky team like the Spurs fits.
If the Spurs win, more power to you guys who are on them. But I always go with who will make the books the most money, and with only 2 games tonight (and the other game a toss-up), I gotta take the Bulls.Comment -

#290roag - you said you use bookmaker, do they allow you to do parlays/teasers combining leagues (EX: NBA and NCAA combined?) ive been on BODOG for 3 years, would like to open a new account on bookmaker or 5dimes, didn't know if you could combine though.Comment -

#291Yes, at Bookmaker I can combine leagues as long as its the same sport (so pro and college basketball, pro and college football). What's great is I can do it for the 3 Team/8 Point Teasers in basketball and 3 Team/10 Point Teasers in football, so I have lots of games to choose from.Comment -

#294I'm playing the Bulls ML because I think they'll win. If you guys like the Spurs go for it. It's a tough game to call, it could go either way. I just can't bet with the majority of the public for the reasons I already stated. No one should be betting heavily on this game anyway, so if I lose $50 so be it.Comment -

do you guys really think that Portland is that better?? I'm leaning DENVER plus the point.....but haven't pull the trigger yet....afraid of this line, feels like a trap!Comment -

#296Spurs-Bulls. The line is moving slightly towards the Bulls. They opened at +3.5 and now there are 2.5 and 3.0 out there. Yet, I'm sure Joe Public would be all over San Antonio. Hmmm...
I enjoy looking at line movement but I don't let it influence my picks. Sometimes you gain a point or so during the day, sometimes you lose a point. And sometimes it's just something to talk about over a beer in Vegas !
Case in point, the Celts-Cavs opener. A good buddy of mine grabbed under 184.5. I bet later on over 183.5 Final score of 184. We have this annual NBA head to head handicapping contest, so for us that was a push, but in the real world we both made money. And I'm sure there'll be times when we both lose because of line moves.
The line has also moved in Portland's favor by a point. Now at -8. If I have studied the Teaser lessons learned on this forum correctly, if there were a heavier schedule tonite, that would make the Trailblazers a good candidate. Correct ?
Neither one of these two games tonite jumps out at me with a clear pick.
Good luck all.Comment -

#297No, you can't take the Blazers tonight in a teaser because Denver could easily win this game. The line is ridiculous for a Denver team that almost beat the Lakers in the Western Conference Finals and is just as good this year (although not having Smith hurts them right now). The Blazers were 8.5-9.5 favorites over the lowly Rockets and won by 9, does it make any sense for Portland to be favored over a strong Denver team by 8 just because Denver played last night?
The lines for tomorrow's games will be out later this afternoon, and I will be taking Denver +16 plus 2 other games in my teaser.Comment -

#299very true roag. i also think its tough to predict teams early in the year like the nuggs and blazers who have a big disparity in their home/away performance. i think you gotta see a few games before you can figure out what theyre are really aboutComment -

#300Exactly. What do you think is more likely, Portland beating Denver by more than 16, or Portland winning outright? Since Denver can win this game, you have to take the 16 points because it's more likely they will cover that number. Good teams rarely get blown out by more than 16 pts. It happens, but usually later in the season in meaningless games or at the end of long road trips.Comment -

#303Roag, I'm sorry but I just don't understand what you see in the Bulls. I think this is a team that will battle for the 8th spot this year and ultimately come up short. In the past, the Bulls relied on two things: Ben Gordon's ridiculous ability to put up points at will and Derrick Rose's quickness. Gordon is now gone and Rose will likely see reduced minutes tonight and certainly won't be 100%. On the other side, the Spurs are a legitimate title contender once again with their offseason moves. If I'm wrong I'll bow to you, but I just don't see this upset happening.Comment -

#304williams, I understand what you're saying, but I don't think the Spurs are in the same class as the Celtics and Lakers, and until they prove me wrong I'm going with a good, young, aggressive home team playing their season opener against an aging team on a back to back. The Bulls will be playing hard tonight and can win this game.
Like I said, it could go either way but I'll take my chances and if I lose I lose.Comment -

#307Pumped or not, Chicago is not as talented as the Spurs....yes it is the 2nd half of a back to back, the majority of Spurs players sat on the bench and watched a blowout against NO...
The loss of Gordon will be an adjustment for the Bulls....I just do not think they have the firepower to battle with the SpursComment -

I like this thread;; do u mind if i post now and then? i am a parlay fan also even tho they can be maddening when u have that one loser;;
looking to fund 5dimes where a 4teamer pays +550 and 3of4 pays +100;; note-pushes are losers
i agree that this bulls game tonight is tricky;; i slightly lean spurs cause i dont know how good the bulls will be without bgordon;;i think they took a step back and pistons took a step forward w gordon
i agree with u that denver + the pts is the play
parlay;; denver+8 and spurs -2.5

#309The Bulls play the Celtics tomorrow night. They know they need this game tonight because the Celtics have KG back, added Sheed, and have long memories about the beating Chicago put on them in the Garden in the playoffs. And Chicago does not want to start 0-2 especially with the Cavs showing weakness. And guess what? Sunday they play at Miami. Tonight is their best chance to win one of their first 3 games.
As I said, I'm a situational bettor, I'm not just looking at what's happening tonight, but also tomorrow and the days to come.Comment -

#313Guys...you are all talking about how the Bulls relied on Gordon to do the scoring..which is true...but why??
Because in the playoffs Deng was injured. He is back! This team is deep and has balance across the board. No way this Bulls team (short of injuries) is barely fighting for an 8 spot. This team is good.
I think they will end up with a better record than ATL.
Home opener...young team...going to be EXTREMELY pumped vs. a SA that played last night. Going to see the 1Q 1H lines and maybe make a ML play like Roag.
Also probably going to tease the Denver game like you guys said...I don't know WHAT IN THE HECK books are thinking but POR -8 is CRAZY. Denver is way too good off a squad...

#314You think they stand a better chance of beating the Spurs (who will be a championship contender again this year) than Miami (who will struggle to make the playoffs)??? Man I just don't see it. Someone please tell me how the Bulls will get more than 90 points. Rose won't even get 20 tonight, who else will score?

#315The Denver line has me worried, it has TRAP written all over it. I guess the books saw some weaknesses last night in Denver's game against Utah that they think Portland will expose. I don't care, Denver +16 is still the right play for my teaser. They may lose by more than 8 but I don't see them losing by more than 16.Comment
