The basic logic behind a Getaway Day is resting starters, lack of motivation- looking to get home after playing a night game which ends with a day game, look-ahead situations, and end of starter rotation.

I will focus on two situations (a fade and under play) that relate to the Getaway Day. I will also list plays and track its progression. For ease of tracking I will name them Situation A and B.

      Situation A: FADE

Parameters (these must be met to consider a play)

      1. Last game of a three game series
      2. Road team
      3. Day game
      4. Played a night game the day before
      5. Sunday game
      6. NL conference team
      7. A favorite of 140 or below and a dog of 200 and below (* lines are dependent on database lines)

      Tracking: FADE

      2007: 36-69 (+2560)

      Situation B: UNDER

sorry for the late response. I had golf tourn over the weekend. It appears the getaways did not do so well this sunday.

        Here's the under system.

SG = SGS = 3 and LGS and A and p:NGT and DAY and day = Sunday and division!= NL East and 10.5>total>=7 and month>4

Looks good. And it coincides with one of base's queries that lists this game and pads game both under later. Best of luck.

My rendition of the MLB Getaway Day. These games normally fall on Wednesday, Thursday and most predominantly, Sunday. Sunday will be the day I use within my situation(s) of this day. In short, a Getaway Day is the last game of series and the road team is leaving.

                                          Hi jmon
I'm very new to SDQL. I was drawn to this post as it gave both the logic and a plain English list of parameters (Often it's hard to make heads nor tails out of a long list of SDQL) .
I have 2 questions on the implementation and a couple of queries about the logic
                                          Fade
Are the odds those of the FADE team or the team being played ON?
How critical are the odds as prices vary between books and timing of the bet. Which begs another question. Where does SDQL get it's odds? Consensus Las Vegas closing odds?

                                          LOGIC
Why are April and NOT NL east both critical to the Under, but neither to the Fade?
I presumed , then checked, that the Fade doesn't yield a +ve ROI in the AL. I suppose its logical that the DH changes the chemistry of when to change pitchers in previous games.
Why not SGS=4?...too infrequent?. I checked and SGS=4 actually gives a higher ROI for the Fade. This did not surprise me as the logic of the Getaway would apply, if not more so, to a 4 game series.

I would appreciate comments from you on this post.

I am tracking the odds of the team we are fading. Prices and line movement , I presume, are critical to each individual. I am just tracking database lines; which has been my understanding they have an individual in Vegas entering lines manually which or neither opening or closing. Many have asked this question on the google group with no clear answer.

Too be honest, I didn't even think of a four games series and you are right it does provide decent results. Free feel to track it( looks like there is a fade today on Atl-btw), but I am just going to track the parameters I posted. I think your addition of logic is sound, perhaps the freshness of both teams (or even line makers) in the month of April has an affect on the total. NL east is an outlier for some reason I am unsure about.
