Any Vegas locals or casino employees here? Need advice

I'm 21 and want to get into the gaming industry. What would you suggest how to get started, without knowing someone?

I live in South FL, and a local DJ down here gave all the homeless bums his advertisement shirts. There's a bum on pretty much every major street corner. Good marketing

For uneducated people its a good way to make 35k+ just as a entry level poker dealer/ blackjack dealer

and some people legitimately just enjoy being around gaming so much they want to work in it.

I love being around gaming hence my interest. I have four years of prepaid college and I wouldn't mind making 35k a year now but would obv. want to work my way up

Ya I'm starting casino school next week going to learn all the table games that I already know, but it's cheap and they are affiliated with the casinos down here so I'm hoping to land a job.

If your primary concern is making 35k+, there are many other jobs / careers out there with better opportunities for growth and advancement. Not to say there is anything inherently wrong with working in the gaming industry... I'm just pointing out that if you really want to make 35k+ doing something you enjoy, there are plenty of other options. The other thing you have to realize is that if after 10 years of dealing cards you desire a change (relocation, unhappy, etc.) your resume will have a giant dead spot. Other than loyalty and stability, a dealer that has dealt for one year is identical to one that has dealt for ten years to a potential employer. What job can you imagine applying for out of the gaming industry that you will boast about your ten years as a dealer?

Ya I was thinking of trying to get in and start as a dealer and in the mean time go to school for hotel management/hospitality and finance/economics . I wouldn't want to stay being a dealer. I say hotel management/hospitality because I'm not saying I'm going to limit myself to just being in gaming. I'd just like to get a top paying job in a casino/hotel in the future.

I thought you were looking for a bartender gig to get your foot in the door but from this post I guess not.

Do you have a 4 year degree in hospitality mgt? If so that's even better, def. got something lined up.

What school you going to attend.
Also dont pay to take all the different classes.
Only Take BJ to start they will offer you a few
bucks off to pay for all of them up front.
    Dont do it.
BJ you will learn the basic card shuffle and pitch.
That will get you in a casino.
The casinos will teach you other games.
also dont take poker until after you worked at a casino
for awhile but then you might not need to.
Also poker room dealer if the hardest dealer job to get.
because it usually pays the best and you keep your own tips
every day cash in the pocket
Also if you take craps you can get a job but
you'll be know as a crap dealer and thats all you'll do.
only do that if your desperate to get in
if you go the BJ route, you'll start there then learn some
"carnival games", then while working pick up roulette, and some other
PM me if you have any other questions
