Tin foil hat saves the day

How one foil-wrapped home survived the Caldor Fire as everything around it burned

When the voracious Caldor Fire raced through forested Phillips near South Lake Tahoe, it destroyed dozens of cabins but spared a couple. One was wrapped in what looks like aluminum foil

Also, Insurance will reimburse homeowners for costs related to protecting property from further damages.
    Good Deal.

Why do people wrap food in aluminum foil.

Not to protect food from heat, aluminum is a very good conductor of thermal energy, it has the opposite effect.

It might work with radiant barrier, heat insulation. That goes in home ceilings. Definitely not aluminum though.
